Trans 7 (formerly known as TV7) is an Indonesian free-to-air television network owned by Trans Media and owned by Trans Corp. For the first time, Trans 7 was the official broadcaster of 2018 FIFA World Cup together with the older-sister channel Trans TV, also with Telkom Indonesia, K-Vision and MNC Media (MNC Vision only). Trans 7 had broadcast 8 group-stage matches as well as shared broadcasting of quarterfinal, semifinal, 3rd place playoff, and final matches from Trans TV, also from IndiHome/, K-Vision, and MNC Sports.^[1]

The channel was officially launched on 25 November 2001 at 5:00 PM local time. The final transmission and broadcast aired on 15 December 2006 at 19:00 WIB. The network was then sold by Kompas Gramedia and the new owners changed the name from TV7 to Trans7.

History[]

Trans 7 was established as TV7 based on permission of the Department of Trade and Industry in Central Jakarta No. 809/BH.09.05/III/2000. 88% of its share is largely owned by Kompas Gramedia;. On November 25, 2001, the existence of TV7 was published in State Gazette No. 8687 as PT Duta Visual Nusantara Tivi Tujuh. The logo itself is the letters "JO", which stands for Jakob Oetama, the owner of Kompas Gramedia. The logo is also loosely based on the Circle 7 logo that the American Broadcasting Company used for its O&O stations in North America.

Al Jazeera relay effect[]

TV7 was increasingly known to the public by the first quarter of 2003. TV7 was relaying a live broadcast of Al Jazeera every day during the U.S. invasion of Iraq through a news program titled Invasi ke Irak (Invasion to Iraq). This step was followed by ANTV broadcasting television station Al Arabiya about the invasion.^[2]

Indonesian society, in general, welcomed TV7's actions, especially for those who disagreed with the Western media's "truth".^[3] Despite rumors that then-president Megawati Soekarnoputri urged TV7 to stop the relay broadcasts of Al Jazeera, PR TV7 then, Uni Lubis, denied it. Even, she asserted that the relays were continued and disturbances in the relay could be resolved.^[4]

Re-launch as Trans7[]

The Trans TV Building, the headquarters of Trans TV, now also become the office of Trans 7.

On 4 August 2006, CT Corp via Trans Corp authorized to buy a 55% stake in PT Duta Visual Nusantara Tivi Tujuh. The television network officially re-started broadcasting on-air as Trans7 was officially re-launch of the local franchise was held in conjunction with Trans TV's 5th anniversary on 15 December 2006 at 7:00PM local time, this date was set as the birth date of Trans 7. Trans7 was the second Indonesian television channel to be officially inaugurated after Trans TV. The managing director of Trans 7 is now . When the station was named TV7, it was headquartered at Wisma Dharmala Sakti Floor 21 Jend. Sudirman Street Lot 32 Jakarta 10220. Since TV7's official purchase by Trans Corp, TV7 began to share an office with Trans TV.

Sports Programming[]

Trans 7 has broadcast the Premier League from 2002–2007. Trans7 broadcast Serie A from 2007-2009 and returned in 2016–17 season, as well as International Champions Cup in 2017. Since 2018, Trans 7 broadcast the 2018 FIFA World Cup with Trans TV, also with Indihome/UseeTV, K-Vision, and MNC Sports.

Trans 7 is the home of MotoGP in indonesia for 20 years since 2002 and will end in 2022 due to the new broadcasting rights contract.

Trans 7 also hosts the Indonesia Open Badminton Championships coverage since 2008, after broadcasting the Thomas and Uber Cups for 2008 (simulcast with Trans TV) and 2010 seasons.

Trans 7 also hosts the 2021 Summer Olympics & 2022 Winter Olympics will be aired for (simulcast with Trans TV, SCTV, RCTI, GTV and MNC TV) and until 2022.

Kapten Tsubasa Return[]

After broadcasting prevouliously on RCTI and NET., Trans 7 bring back Kapten Tsubasa the best animation (since September) with the completed episodes, from Group TAC (Road to 2002), until new anime version by David Production. To celebrates Trans Media 19th Universe. Before next broadcasting by RTV, until Ramadhan 2021.
