Transcarpathian State University (also known as ZakDU or TcSU, Ukrainian: Закарпатський державний університет (ЗакДУ)), in the city of Uzhhorod, is one of the major universities in Zakarpatska Oblast. It was founded as Uzhhorod State Institute of Information Sciences, Economics and Law (UzhDIIEP).

Structure[]

There are 5 faculties in the structure of Zakarpattia State University: Faculty of Information Technologies, Faculty of International Relations, Faculty of International Business and International Law, Faculty of Law and Faculty of Economics and Tourism; Educational and scientific institutes: institute of information technologies, institute of European integration researches; College of Natural Sciences and Humanities, Department of Pre-University Training, Retraining and Advanced Training; postgraduate and doctoral department.

Faculty of Information Technologies. Field of knowledge "Computer Science and Computer Engineering". Areas of training: "Computer Science", "Software Engineering"; specialties "Information control systems and technologies", "Software systems". Specializations: "System administration and hardware of computer networks", "Modern technologies of information protection", "Computerized simulation systems", "Internet client-server systems", "Modern technologies of software creation".

Faculty of Economics and Tourism. Field of knowledge "Economics and Entrepreneurship". Areas of training: "Accounting and Auditing", "Finance and Credit"; specialties: "Accounting and Auditing", "Banking". There are 5 faculties in the structure of Zakarpattia State University:

Faculty of Information Technologies[]

is the same age as the university, which was founded in 1995. The first departments of the faculty were: the Department of Informatics and Information Technologies and the Department of Physical and Mathematical Disciplines. In 2000, the Department of Informatics and Information Technologies was divided into two: the Department of Information Control Systems and Technologies and the Department of General Informatics and Mathematical Modeling. It was the first of the two above-mentioned departments that gave the university the first graduates of "systems engineers". In connection with the opening of a new specialty "Software of automated systems" in 2005, the Department of Physical and Mathematical Disciplines was reorganized into the Department of Software of Automated Systems and Physical and Mathematical Disciplines and became the second graduating department of the faculty. In 2011, as a result of the reorganization, the Faculty of Information Technology has three departments - software systems, information control systems and technologies, computer science and physics and mathematics.

Department of International Relations[]

The functioning of the Faculty of International Relations of ZakSU is objectively due to the unique geopolitical location of Zakarpattia region, which borders on four Central European countries on the western border of Ukraine, its important transit role and other factors that contribute to the intensive development of foreign economic and foreign policy.

Faculty of International Business and International Law[]

Today the faculty has 3 departments:

  • international business and world politics;
  • business foreign language and translation;
  • pedagogy, psychology and health technologies.

Faculty of International Business and International Law[]

Provides training in the field and specialty "international business". The faculty was established in June 2007. In 2010, a new field of International Law was launched on the basis of the Faculty of International Business and International Law of Zakarpattia State University. Since 2011, the faculty has been training specialists in two new specialties "Applied Linguistics" and "Practical Psychology".

Faculty of Law[]

The Faculty of Law of Zakarpattia State University trains specialists of educational and qualification level "bachelor", "specialist", "master" in the field of "Law" in the specialty "Law" in full-time and part-time education, as well as in the postgraduate department. Within the specialty of senior courses, students of their choice specialize in the fields of forensic prosecution, forensic science and economic law. Since 2011, full-time students have been gaining an additional specialization - "teacher of law", which gives them the right to teach law in schools.

Faculty of Economics and Tourism[]

Prepares specialists in the areas of training "Accounting and Auditing" and "Finance and Credit", in the specialties "Accounting and Auditing", "Banking" at the educational and qualification levels "specialist" and "master"; in the field of "Tourism" and specialty "Tourism Studies" in the educational and qualification levels "specialist" and "master".

The Distance Learning Center is a component of TcSU.

The university trains its students in the following fields and specialties:

  • Economic Cybernetics;
  • Business Activity;
  • Informational Operating Systems and Technologies;
  • Programming for Automatized and Calculating Systems.

Facilities[]

Material and technical base of the university includes 7 computer classrooms, laboratories of informational teaching technologies, a publishing center, centers of electronic communication, local computer and TV networks, a training laboratory for Criminal Law Science, a library and information center with a considerable fund of modern scientific and training literature of 200,000 items and the biggest in the region reading hall, linguaphone labs equipped with computer audio and video complexes, a codification center for Law Sciences. To the services of the students and teaching staff there is a swimming-pool with a health and sport center, and a clinic. The University publishes its own magazine, Naukovyi Visnyk ("Scientific Herald"), and a regional newspaper.
