Triathlon at the Commonwealth Games

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Triathlon is one of the sports at the quadrennial Commonwealth Games competition. It was first granted Commonwealth Games sport status in 2002. It is a core sport which has to be included in each competition's sporting programme. A para triathlon was first included as an optional sport in the Gold Coast 2018 games. The next appearance of the sport will take place in The Royal Town of Sutton Coldfield, as part of the 2022 Commonwealth Games hosted by Birmingham, England.

Currently there are five triathlon events in the Commonwealth Games (Men's, Women's, Men's Para, Women's Para, and the Mixed Team Relay event).

At the 1990 Commonwealth Games at Auckland, the Triathlon was a demonstration event; won by Erin Baker (women) and (men), both from New Zealand.[1]
