United States House Agriculture Subcommittee on General Farm Commodities and Risk Management

The House Subcommittee on General Farm Commodities and Risk Management is a subcommittee within the House Agriculture Committee.

It is currently Chaired by Democrat Cheri Bustos of Illinois and its Ranking Member is Republican Austin Scott of Georgia.

Jurisdiction[]

The subcommittee oversees program and markets for major commercial crops, such as cotton, cottonseed, wheat, feed grains (corn), soybeans, oil seeds, rice, dry beans, peas, and lentils. It also reviews operations of the Commodity Credit Corporation, crop insurance programs, and commodity exchanges. Specialty crops, such as peanuts, sugar, and tobacco, which were previously handled by the Subcommittee on Specialty Crops, Rural Development and Foreign Agriculture were added to the subcommittee's jurisdiction during the 112th Congress.[1]
