Annaram is a village in Thungathurthy mandal, Suryapet district, Telangana, India.[1] Most of the families in Annaram are very well educated and has more than one employee in the family. The village has supplied Engineers, Professors, Govt.officers, Teachers and specialists over the generations and are serving in India and abroad. Nearly 95% of population is literate. This village has three govt. schools including one high school which was started in late 1970s. Though politically very active, there aren't many notable leaders from the village. Main crops for the farmers of this village are paddy, moong, ground nut, chilli and cotton.

History[]

Annavaram is called Annaram. This village was once a small site for a group of inhabitants. At that time the name was "Velugu palli Annaram". Later it was renamed to its current name Annaram. This village has the traces of rich history. The elders and freedom fighters tells many stories about the village. Probably, this land was under the rule of the Kakatiya dynasty. Some old temples and remains of fortified walls and buildings can be found at Gutta which is located near government High school. This village has the active participation in the Telangana movement Razakar against Nizam rulers. One can find more than half a dozen Freedom Fighters in the villages. To enhance its name and its legacy, there are many another gems in the Annaram crown. The Temple of Rama, CSI and Baptist Church and Mosque (Maseed), Mutyalamma and Sounamma Temples are some of the religious places in the village.[citation needed]

The boundaries are Sangem to the east, Thungathurthy to the west, Karvilala Kothagudem on the north and Velugupalli southward. The village is surrounded by 4 lakes: Turupu Erra Kumta to the east, Erra Kunta to the west, Sama cheruvu and Marri Kunta to the north, and Kothan Kunta, Sone Kunta, and Bandam to the south. There are 8-10 notified lakes in the village and two Guttas.

The population of the village is approximately 5000 to 5500 and there are 3100 voters in the village. It is a Major Gram Panchayath and there are 12 Panchayath wards. Apart from the village population, it has a population of approximately 1000 from the hamlet villages Keshava Puram and Boda Banda

Facilities[]

Education: There are three government schools in the village i.e. Zilla Parishad Primary School (ZPPS since 1973) and Zilla Parishad High School ( ZPHS) and govt primaryschool(sc colony) and one private upper primary school in the village not now.

The village has a PHC sub centre, Post office and a water tank and one power sub station.

Transportation[]

Annaram is connected to the rest of the State by road transportation. The village is also well connected to the remaining parts of the Districts. Like other villages in the state, Annaram is a typical village. The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation[51] runs a fleet of 10 buses in the village. Annaram have the bus station facility which is locally known as the Bus Stand. The buses are available to various places mainly to Hyderabad, Suryapet of the state via different towns and villages of the region. The yellow colored Auto Rickshaw usually referred to as an auto, is the most widely used transport service and has flag down minimum fare of 6 to Mandal and 22 to Suryapet.

Economy[]

Annaram's economy is predominantly agricultural. Annaram has several Traditional village industries. Agriculture is the main occupation of the people. The main agricultural products of the village are Paddy, Moong Dall, Ground nut, Chilli and Cotton

People[]

People from different religions- Hindu, Christian and Muslims have been living with harmony and love. The famous festivals are: Dasara and Bathukamma, Deepavali, Sankranti, Christmas, Ramjan and 26 January, 15 August.

Sports[]

District level games conducted in Annaram village every year and people also playing cricket and volleyball, kabbadi Etc....
