The violet-throated starfrontlet (Coeligena violifer) is a species of hummingbird in the family Trochilidae. It was first described by English ornithologist John Gould in 1846. It is found in Bolivia and Peru.[2] Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist montane forest.
