The Vocabulario de la lengua bicol (transl. Vocabulary of the Bicol language) is a list of vocabulary of the Bicol language, collected by Marcos de Lisboa when he was assigned to Bicol Region, Philippines.
History[]
Lisboa resided in Bicol from 1602 to 1616: in Oas, Polangui and Nueva Caceres. In his fourteen years in the Bicol region, he was assigned in the Naga area for nine years and also served as vicario provincial to the apostolica provincia de San Gregorio for two years.
According to , Lisboa's Vocabulario contained 10,495 (Bikol-Español) word entries in 417 pages using a 22 "x 33" paper and 5,588 entries in the (Español-Bicol) section in 103 pages. It was the 2nd edition reprinted in 1865 upon instruction of Bishop Francisco Gainza (1818-1879) of Nueva Caceres. The 2nd edition was printed in Establecimiento tipografico del Colegio de Santo Tomas, right in Manila.
