From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wado City (Orere Urhobo) is the proposed name of the urban, commercial and industrial Urhobo territories in Warri City in Delta State, Nigeria.[1][2][3][4] It shares boundaries with Warri North and Warri South West

On 23 August 2021 Dr. Ejiro Imuere made the proposal of Wado City on his Facebook Timeline in order to reflect the true identity of the Urhobo people in Warri South Local Government Area and to correct the error of neighbouring Urhobo towns being subsumed by the name "Warri" and ever since then Wado City has been a major topic in several social media platforms (mostly Facebook) and blogs.[5][6][7][8][9]

Wado City includes places like Okere-Urhobo Kingdom. Ogunu, Igbudu, Agbarha-Ame Kingdom aka Agbassa, Edjeba, ukpokiti, oteghele, in Agbarha Kingdom. Effurun, ugborikoko, Enerhen, Ekpan, Jakpa, Ebrumede, Ugbromo e.t.c in Uvwie Kingdom. Wado city also spans to Osubi, Okuokoko, Ugolo, etc. in Okpe Kingdom.

In addition is Otokutu in Ughievwen Kingdom, as well as Opete, Okpaka, Ovwian, Orhuwhorun, Owase, Aladja, Ujevwu, Igbogidi in Udu Kingdom, and Agbarho kingdom.

On the 1st of October, 2021 the committee in charge of the actualization of Wado City held its first physical general meeting to mark Nigeria's Independence Day, where Dr Ejiro Imuere extensively clarified with historical proofs the utmost necessity for Wado City nonviolent ideology to be actualized and to discuss the way forward to promoting a long lasting peaceful coexistence between Warri and Wado City and viable ways to attract investors to Wado City.[10][11][12][13]
