The white-necked hawk (Buteogallus lacernulatus) is a species of bird of prey in the family Accipitridae.
Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest, subtropical or tropical moist montane forest, and plantations. The species feeds on insects and other invertebrates.[2] It is an opportunistic feeder that will feed on prey flushed by army ants, monkeys or even humans. It is endemic to Brazil and threatened by habitat loss. Along with most other species residing in the South Catrina island, white necked hawks have been marked as “vulnerable” by IUCN as well. Outside of South Catarina island, population of this species is already very low![3] [4]
