Wofai Samuel (born 18 September 1990), is an international communications executive,[2] and media personality from Nigeria.[3] Current Director of Communications & External Affairs to UK-Liberia Chamber of commerce in London, Her extensive experience spans the Oil & Gas,[4] International trade & Investment,[5] and the Energy sectors respectively.[6]

Early life[]

Wofai Samuel, was born in Calabar, Cross River State.[7] She attended Federal Government Girls College, Calabar, graduated in 2004 and proceeded to the University of Calabar in 2006, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree[citation needed]. In 2019, Wofai pursued an Advanced Diploma in Industrial relations & Personnel Management at the University of Lagos in Nigeria.

Trade and Investment[]

In June 2017, Wofai chaired the Ministerial Panels for the two day Belarus-Africa Forum' in Europe, Minsk,[8] organised by the Development Bank [9] of Belarus and African Export-Import Bank, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Belarus) and Belarus Ministry of Agriculture.[10] In November 2018, she chaired the Launch of African Export–Import Bank Project Preparation Facility (PPF) on the sidelines of African Development Bank (AfDB) Investment Forum in Johannesburg, South Africa.[11] Wofai chaired Global Trade Review, GTR's West Africa Trade and Export Finance Conference in February 2018. The event was dubbed GTR's largest event in Africa.[12] In a series of trips organised by Africa Investments, Wofai Samuel delivered the keynote Address [13] on 'Why Invest in Nigeria'.[14] She chaired Central Bank of Nigeria Cashless Card Meeting in 2016[15] and the 6th edition of Committee of E-banking Heads Retreat.[16] Wofai Samuel chaired [17] West Africa Trade & Investment Stakeholders Meeting[18] & Nigeria - Italy Economic Investment Summit in 2019.[19][20] In March 2021,[21] Wofai chaired the Forum of African Finance, Economy & Compliance held physically and virtually in Luanda, Angola.[22] [23][24][25]

Oil and Gas[]

In November 2019, Wofai was Lead Keynote Speaker for Africa's First Ever International Produced Water Management [26][27] Conference after successful editions in the United States & Middle East.

Ministry of Petroleum Kenya and a host of other African Governments assembled in Nairobi for Sub-Saharan Africa Oil, Gas & Energy Infrastructure Summit, the event was chaired by Wofai Samuel.[28][29] Wofai Chaired panel sessions for Oil and Gas Council's Nigeria [30] Assembly in November 2017.[31] Wofai Samuel was the first ever female chair for Oil Trading Logistics Africa Downstream (petroleum industry) Week, OTL in October 2017. In October 2018, she chaired AFSIC UK's Oil & Gas Panel Sessions in Nigeria & Africa Oil and Gas Talent Summit Respectively.[32] In September 2019, Wofai Samuel was profiled on Energy Times Newspapers.[33]


Power and Energy[]

Wofai Samuel chaired West Africa Power/Energy Industry Awards organised by Spintelligent South Africa in 2017.[34] She chaired West Africa Energy, Trade & Mining Infrastructure Summit, Ghana in 2018.[35] She chaired Africa Energy Infrastructure Forum in April 2021.

Foreign Investment Network[]

In July 2020; Wofai Samuel got appointed as Head of fIN Oil & Gas, a London based Foreign direct investment company focused on Oil & Gas Projects in Developing Economies.[36]

Wofai Samuel organised and delivered a series of Meetings for[37][38] Upstream (petroleum industry) which attracted 22 countries,[39] 21 Petroleum & Energy Operating Companies Globally and 150 Senior Stakeholders across boards including Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources (Nigeria), African Petroleum Producers' Organization,[40] Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Shell, Waltersmith Petroman Oil, Chevron, Bank of America, Exxon Mobil, Invictus Energy Australia, Schlumberger, Crystol Energy London,[41][42] [43] and Saudi Aramco

Wofai Samuel was profiled on Forbes Africa[44] as shaping the future of the continent in October - November 2020.

UK-Liberia Chamber of Commerce[]

On March 1, 2021,[45][46] Wofai Samuel was appointed as Director of Communication & External Affairs to United Kingdom-Liberia Chamber of Commerce (UKLCC), a Bi-lateral Affiliate Chamber to The British Chambers of Commerce. Positioned for Trade and Investments between the United Kingdom and Liberia. Wofai oscillates between London, Liberia, and Nigeria, leading the Chamber’s integrated approach for Communication, Government, and Private Sector advocacy.[47]

Visa[]

In June & November 2018, Wofai Samuel was scheduled to chair Africa Trade and Investment Global Summit (ATIGS) in[48] Washington, D.C and Mines & Money London,[49] respectively. She missed these conferences on the backdrop of visa refusals by the American and British Embassies in Nigeria.

Personal life[]

In August 2017, Wofai Samuel lost her brother, Blessing Samuel after a brief illness. He was a staff of the University of Calabar.[50] This came after the demise of her father in 1996.

Awards[]

Wofai Samuel is a Fellow of Young African Leaders Initiative,[51] an initiative of the United States Department of State, which began in 2010 by President Barack Obama. She accrued the highest number of votes in an overall election to become the Communications Chair for YALI RLC West Africa (Nigeria Alumnus) on December 24, 2020.

Wofai distributed nose masks to secondary school students in Lagos, and sanitized their hands, on May 31, 2021, as part of her philanthropic activities. On June 3, 2021, Wofai was invited by the Royal Commonwealth Society in England, as a Judge for The Queen's Commonwealth Essay Competition, the world's oldest international writing competition for schools, established in 1883.
