Yadgir Institute of Medical Sciences

Yadgir Institute of Medical Sciences[1] shortly YIMS is an hospital and medical college in Yadgir, Karnataka[2] and run by the Government of Karnataka. This institute is located in Mudnal of Yadgir and spread over an area of about 40 acres (161,874 m2)[3]

Foundation[]

On Wednesday January 6, 2021. Chief Minister of Karnataka, B.S. Yediyurapa laid of the foundation stone of medical college in Yadgir.[4][5][3]

This college will be set up at a cost of Rs 325 crore; while the Centre will contribute Rs 195 crore (60%), the state will give Rs 130 crore (40%).[6]

History[]

  • 9 November 2017 - CM Siddaramaiah had sanctioned medical colleges for Yadgir[7]
  • 30 August 2020 - Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan said new medical colleges are going to be set up in Karnataka at Chikkamagaluru, Haveri, Yadgir and Chikkaballapur[8][9]
  • 6 January 2021 - B. S. Yediyurappa Chief Minister of Karnataka laid the foundation stone for the construction of the college at Mudnal and fulfilled the long-pending demand of the people of most backward region.[2]
