Yandex.Eats (or Yandex.Eda[1]) is a Russian online food ordering and delivery platform launched by Yandex in 2018.[2] Delivery is carried out by courier services partnered with Yandex. Customers can choose from pizzerias, bakeries, restaurants of Georgian and Japanese cuisine, burgers, steak houses, and grocery stores: Magnit, Dixie, VkusVill, Metro, and other establishment

As of March 2021, Yandex.Eats operates in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Sochi, in a total of 170 cities in Russia and 1 city in Kazakhstan. Yandex.Eats works with more than 33,000 restaurants, including McDonald's, Papa John's, Yakitoria, Khleb Nasushny, Teremok, Black Star Burger, URYUK, the Rostinter restaurant chain (which includes IL Patio, TGI FRIDAYS, Planet Sushi, Shikari, and Costa Coffee), KetchUp, Burger Heroes.

The service is part of the Yandex online trade, transport, and logistics business group. Among the stores that work with the service are Azbuka Vkusa, Verny, and Magnolia.

In 2017 Yandex.Taxi acquired 100% of the Russian food delivery service Foodfox. Yandex.Eda was established on its basis on January 19, 2018.[3]

On January 19, 2018, Yandex.Taxi established[4] a subsidiary company Yandex.Eda LLC. The company said that Yandex.Eda will enter a new holding structure, which will be formed due to the closure of the merger of the Yandex.Taxi and Uber businesses in Russia and the CIS.

On February 7, 2018, Yandex.Taxi and Uber closed[5] a deal to combine services.

On March 2, 2018, the Yandex.Taxi company presented[6] its own food delivery service Yandex.Eda. The service was first launched in Moscow based on the Foodfox service.

On May 30, 2018, the Uber Eats service was also included[7] in the service.

On June 18, 2018, the Yandex.Eda service entered the first region and launched[8] delivery in St. Petersburg.

On June 10, 2019, Yandex began[9] testing the Yandex.Lavka service - delivery of groceries, ready-made food (including its own production)[10] household goods, and goods under its own trademark "Iz Lavka" working only for delivery from the local network mini-warehouses, which is carried out by couriers-partners of Yandex.Food and drivers-partners of Yandex Go. Delivery time - from 15 minutes after ordering, the cost of goods does not differ from ordinary stores. The new service has become available to users of the Yandex.Food and Yandex.Taxi applications are located in the delivery area. At the moment, Yandex.Lavka has more than 270 warehouses in five regions (Moscow, Moscow Region, St. Petersburg, Leningrad Region, and Nizhny Novgorod).[11] Project manager - Ilya Krasilshchik.

In September 2019, the Yandex.Food service entered the Kazakhstan market and is available in Almaty and Nur-Sultan.[12] Food is ordered through Yandex.Taxi application.

At the end of the second quarter of 2019, the company announced a growth of 600% compared to the same period in 2018.[13] In February 2021, it became known that food sales brought Yandex 24 billion rubles in 2020.[14]

At the end of 2019, we launched our own pop-up clothing store "Silver Fork". The clothes were sold in the attachment.[15]

In March 2020, during the quarantine measures related to COVID-19, contactless delivery[16] and electronic tips for couriers and restaurants[17] were introduced, the connection of restaurants to the platform[18] was accelerated, and a fund to support drivers and couriers was created.[19]

In March 2020, Yandex. Food appeared in the Yandex Go application.[20] Cooperation with Yandex Go allowed us to increase the delivery area, make it round the clock and enter new cities.[21]

Since April 2020, we have started working with grocery retailers. The first partner was the Azbuka Vkusa network.[22] In the future, grocery stores joined the service as partners: Verny, Magnolia, Miratorg, Metro, Dixy, and markets (Usachevsky, Foodcity, and others). Added the function of sending food to another person and the function of self-pickup.

On June 15, 2021, the Yandex.Food service entered the Belarusian market and is available in Minsk[23]

In June 2021, the Yandex.Eda service began testing card payments to a courier upon receipt of an order. The possibility began to be tested in Voronezh, later non-cash payment upon receipt will appear in Ufa, Samara, Perm, and Cheboksary.[24]
