Yvonne Reungoat F.M.A (born 14 January 1945[1]) is a French nun and one of the few high-ranking women in the Roman Curia.
Biography[]
Sister Reungoat was born in Plouénan, North-West of France on 14 January 1945. She studied Salesian religious life when she was admitted to the Paris Postulancy in 1963.[1] She entered into religious service on 5 August 1965.[1]
She earned a degree in History and Geography form the University of Lyon and became a school teacher in Lyon for 11 years. Between 1996 and 2008 she was member of the General Chapter and in 2002 was elected Vicary General of this institute.[2]
Appointments and honours[]
Reungoat is one of the first seven women appointed members of the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life since 8 July 2019, when was appointed by Pope Francis.[3][4] She is also the 9th and first non-Italian Superior General of the Salesian Sisters of Don Bosco since 2008.[5]
On 5 April 2018, she was elected president of the Union of Major Superiors of Italy in its 65th National Assembly.[6]
In January 2021, Reungoat she was appointed Officer of the Légion d’Honneur.[7] She had previously been awarded the Medal of Knight in the National Order of the Legion of Honour.[7]
