The 1973 Sacramento State Hornets football team represented Sacramento State University[note 1] during the 1973 NCAA Division II football season.

Sacramento State competed in the Far Western Conference (FWC).[note 2] The Hornets were led by head coach Ray Clemons in his thirteenth season. They played home games at Hornet Stadium in Sacramento, California. The team finished the season with a record of one win and nine losses (1–9, 0–5 FWC).
