The 1976 United States Senate election in Hawaii took place on November 2, 1976. Incumbent Republican U.S. Senator Hiram Fong decided to retire, instead of seeking re-election to a fourth term. Democrat Spark Matsunaga won the open seat by defeating Republican William Quinn.
Both US House representatives Spark Matsunaga from the 1st district and Patsy Mink from the 2nd district ran in the Democratic primary, which Matsunaga won.
