1988 Inverness District Council election

Independents took the most seats but fell short of an overall majority

Elections to the Inverness District Council took place in May 1988, alongside elections to the councils of Scotland's various other districts. The number of seats and the total vote share won by each party is listed below.[1]

  Independent: 14 seats, 51.1%
  Labour: 12 seats, 30.7%
  SLD: 2 seats, 7.7%
  SNP: 0 seats, 7.9%

Other parties took 2.8% of the vote. Voter turnout was 41.8%.
