Adam Calhoun is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and comedian. He is active as a social media personality and has released a number of albums.[1]

Music career[]

Calhoun started his music career performing with a country rap singer, Hosier. They released a single "Salute the Brave" in 2017,[2] which reached No. 46 on Hot Country Songs.[3] and they also released an album Made in America that year. He ended his collaboration with Hosier and started a solo career in 2018, and released AmerAcal.[4] Later in the year he released his second album The Throne.[5] A track in the album "Racism" drew criticism for using the N-word and stereotypes about white and black people.[6]

He released an EP Crazy White Boy with Demun Jones. During their "Crazy White Boy Tour", their shows in Sacramento, California were scheduled in the same weekend as the Sacramento Pride, which led to protests because of his social media posts on gay and trans people and song lyrics described as "racist".[7] It resulted in those shows being cancelled.[8][9] Other shows similarly faced protests and another show in Oklahoma City was canceled.[10][11]

On July 18, 2019, Calhoun released his third solo album, War. The album was the second best-selling country album and the third best-selling rap album of the week,[12][13] with 3,200 copies sold.[14]

Calhoun has also collaborated with a number of other artist, including Upchurch on Hooligan released in 2019,[15] and Struggle Jennings on Legend, released in 2020.[16]

Personal life[]

Calhoun has one son, Tamen, by his former girlfriend Brandy.[17]

Calhoun served time in prison for punching an on-duty police officer.[17]

Calhoun has a Youtube channel with over 1.2 million subscribers as of November 2021, where he often expresses his political and social views, including his support for former president Trump,[1] nationalism, machismo, opposition to the Black Lives Matter movement and to feminism,[citation needed] as well as anti-identity political views,[1] posting videos and released songs that many considered disparaging to the LGBTQ community and people of color.[9] Calhoun has stated multiple times on his social media that he will be running as an Independent candidate for President of The United States in the 2024 United States Presidential Election. A staunch supporter of former U.S. President Donald Trump, Calhoun has also stated multiple times "Even if Trump runs I will run against him".[citation needed]
