Aritzo (Sardinian: Arìtzo) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Nuoro in the Italian region Sardinia, located about 80 kilometres (50 mi) north of Cagliari and about 40 kilometres (25 mi) southwest of Nuoro.

Aritzo borders the following municipalities: Arzana, Belvì, Desulo, Gadoni, Laconi, Meana Sardo, and Seulo.

Toponymy[]

The French linguist Michel Morvan suggests for Aritzo the Basque word (h)aritz "oak".
