Lieutenant General Syed Asim Munir Ahmed Shah HI(M) is a three-star rank general serving as Quartermaster general in the Pakistan Army. He commanded XXX Corps (Pakistan) in Gujranwala from 17 June 2019 to 6 October 2021. .[1] He served as the 23rd Director-General of Inter-Services Intelligence, until June 16, 2019 when he was replaced by Lt Gen Faiz Hameed as the new head of ISI.[2]

Military career[]

Asim Munir is from 17th OTS course, Mangla, and was commissioned in 23rd Battalion of Frontier Force Regiment. He was promoted to the rank of lieutenant general in September 2018 and was subsequently appointed as DG ISI. He previously served as Director General of Military Intelligence. He was awarded the Hilal-i-Imtiaz in March 2018. He had earlier served as commander of Force Command Northern Areas.[3][4][5]

In October 2018, he was appointed DG ISI however in June 2019, Munir was replaced by Lt Gen Faiz Hameed as the new DG ISI. Munir was transferred and appointed as Corps Commander in Gujranwala.[6]
