Bay Port is in western Huron County, on the shore of Wild Fowl Bay, on the southeast side of Saginaw Bay, an arm of Lake Huron. The community is in Fairhaven Township, with a small piece extending east into McKinley Township.

The main road through Bay Port is M-25, which follows the shore of Lake Huron, leading northeast 27 miles (43 km) to Port Austin and southwest 39 miles (63 km) to Bay City. M-142 intersects M-25 south of the center of Bay Port and leads east 20 miles (32 km) to Bad Axe, the Huron County seat.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the Bay Port CDP has a total area of 3.38 square miles (8.75 km2), of which 3.35 square miles (8.67 km2) are land and 0.03 square miles (0.08 km2), or 0.96%, are water.[1]

Events[]

Each year, during the first full weekend of August, Bay Port hosts its annual Fish Sandwich Festival. Bay Port's unofficial motto is "Where the fish caught the man", due to its easy lake access for sport fishermen.[citation needed]
