Birkner is a populated area in St. Clair County, Illinois.[1] It is located at 38°33′43″N 90°01′44″W / 38.562°N 90.029°W.[1] A mine of the same name operated from prior to 1882 to 1889.[2] During that time, the mine was operated by , , and the .[2]
