Bosnia and Herzegovina participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 in Düsseldorf, Germany, selecting their entry through an internal selection, organised by the Bosnian broadcaster Radiotelevizija Bosne i Hercegovine (BHRT).[1][2]
Before Eurovision[]
Internal selection[]
In September 2010, BHRT opened the public suggestions for possible artists or ideas at their Facebook site.[3] On 1 December 2010, the broadcaster announced that they had internally selected Dino Merlin to represent Bosnia and Herzegovina in Düsseldorf. Merlin had previously represented Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Eurovision Song Contest 1999 alongside Béatrice Poulot, placing seventh with the song "Putnici".[4][5]
The song to be performed at the contest, "Love in Rewind", was also selected internally and was presented during a television special entitled BH Eurosong 2011 on 21 February 2011. The show was broadcast on BHT 1 as well as streamed online via the broadcaster's website bhrt.ba and the official Eurovision Song Contest website eurovision.tv. In addition to the presentation of the song, the show featured guest performances by 2010 Bosnian Eurovision entrant Vukašin Brajić, 1997 Italian Eurovision entrants Jalisse and Béatrice Poulot.[6]
At Eurovision[]
Bosnia and Herzegovina performed first in the second semi-final on 12 May. Dino placed fifth with 109 points and advanced to the final.[7] The public awarded Bosnia and Herzegovina 2nd place with 131 points and the jury awarded 11th place with 65 points.[8] At the final on 14 May, Bosnia and Herzegovina performed second and placed sixth with 125 points.[9] The public awarded Bosnia 6th place with 151 points and the jury awarded 11th place with 90 points.[8]
