Broome is a village and civil parish in the English county of Norfolk. It is situated on the north bank of the River Waveney, which forms the border with Suffolk, some 2 km north of the town of Bungay and 20 km south-east of the city of Norwich.[1]

The villages name comes from the Old English 'Brōm' which was a thorny bush

The civil parish has an area of 5.91 km2 and in the 2001 census had a population of 475 in 190 households,[2] reducing to 458 at the 2011 census.[3] The demise of Broome has coincided with that of Bungay. For the purposes of local government, the parish falls within the district of South Norfolk.[4]
