Buckeye, Washington

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Buckeye is an unincorporated community in Spokane County, in the U.S. state of Washington.[1]

History[]

A post office called Buckeye was in operation between 1891 and 1934.[2] The community took its name from the Buckeye Lumber Company.[3]

Buckeye was once a small town site distinct from other communities in the area. The community is located about 15 miles north of Downtown Spokane along the Little Spokane River.[4] Buckeye is currently in the part of the Spokane area known as Colbert, and while the original community no longer exists, the area is now the site of homes on large lots where the northern suburbs of Spokane give way to forests and farms.
