Newman Lake—historically and alternatively known as Moab—is an unincorporated community in Spokane County, Washington, United States. Newman Lake, which took its name from early settler William Newman,[2] is 20 miles (32 km) east-northeast of downtown Spokane.

Newman Lake enjoys the beautiful southerly base of Mount Spokane as a backdrop and is about 1,200 acres in size. It's shoreline stretches nearly 10 miles. The lake's watershed, also called a drainage basin covers about 18,500 acres. The Idaho border is less than two miles due east of this community and the city of Coeur d'Alene is 19 miles away. Newman Lake has a post office with ZIP code 99025.[3] It is also home to Ellerport Airport, a private-use airport. As of the summer of 2014, freshwater jellyfish inhabited the lake.[4]

In the early 20th Century, Newman Lake's popularity was on the rise and excursion trains from Spokane traveled to Moab, where busses and stages took took passengers three miles to the lake. At one time there were four hotels, each doing a brisk business at Newman Lake.
