Memorial for the Bukrin Bridgehead (1943)

Velykyi Bukrin (Ukrainian: Великий Букрин; Russian: Великий Букрин) is a village in the south of the Ukrainian Oblast of Kyiv with about 100 inhabitants (2001).

The village, founded in 1600, belongs administratively to the 39.3 km² district council Malyi Bukrin (Малий Букрин) in the north of Myronivka Raion. The village is located on the border with the Cherkassy Oblast on a peninsula in the Dniepr, which is dammed up to the Kaniv reservoir, 5 km north of the Malyi Bukrin community center, about 50 km northeast of the Myronivka district center and about 120 km south of the Ukrainian capital Kyiv.

At Velykyi Bukrin, the troops of the Voronezh Front established the hard-fought over Bukrin bridgehead on the right bank of the Dnieper in the autumn of 1943 during the Battle of the Dnieper. In the neighboring village of Balyko-Shchuchynka, there is the "National Museum-Memorial Bukrin Bridgehead" (Національний музей-меморіальний комплекс «Букринський плацда) to commemorate the fighting.
