Dominic Samuel (born September 29, 1994) is a Canadian professional soccer player who plays as a defender for Forge FC.
Club career[]
Early career[]
Samuel played four years of college soccer at Southern New Hampshire University between 2012 and 2015.[1]
While at college, Samuel played with Premier Development League side Seacoast United Phantoms in 2014,[2] and Sigma FC in 2015. Samuel was named the League1 Ontario defender of the year in 2015.[3]
Rochester Rhinos[]
After college Samuel trialled with New England Revolution, but wasn't signed.[4] He instead joined United Soccer League side Rochester Rhinos.[5]
Sigma FC[]
In 2017, Samuel returned to Sigma FC, making 17 league appearances and scoring two goals.[6]
Samuel remained with Sigma for the 2018 season, making another 16 league appearances and scoring one goal.[7] At the end of the season, he was named to the league's First All-Star Team and named Defender of the Year for the second time.[8] While with Sigma, Samuel worked 10 hour weekday shifts in a lumberyard, before heading to trainings, and five hour shifts on weekend gamedays.[9]
Forge FC[]
On February 25, 2019 Samuel signed with Canadian Premier League side Forge FC.[10]
International career[]
In April 2011 Samuel attended his first Canadian national team camp with the under-17 team, but was not called up for the subsequent 2011 CONCACAF U-17 Championship.[11]
