Elliott Ferrous-Martin Platt,[2] known professionally as ElyOtto, is a Canadian musician known for his song "SugarCrash!", which went viral on TikTok in early 2021.

Early life[]

Elliott Platt was born in 2004 to a father named Mike (a fellow musician), and a mother, Natasha Sayer (a teacher and musician).[3][4][5]

Career[]

Elliott Platt, best known as ElyOtto, began releasing original songs and remixes on SoundCloud in 2019.[5] His first commercial single "SugarCrash!" was released on August 25, 2020.[6] He followed this with his singles "Let Go :(" and "Teeth!" on September 20 and November 14, respectively.[7][8]

"SugarCrash!" gained popularity on TikTok in early 2021 and debuted at number 30 on the Billboard Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart for the issue dated February 27, 2021.[9] The song went viral after user Nick Luciano uploaded a video with the song on February 23, 2021. The video soon became fourth most-liked TikTok of all time, standing at 34.8 million likes as of March 10, 2021.[10] Following this, the song jumped to number 15 on the Hot Rock & Alternative songs chart, peaking at number 11 the following week.[11][12] On the issue dated March 13, 2021 "SugarCrash!" debuted on the Billboard Global 200 at number 139.[13] In March 2021, ElyOtto was signed to RCA Records. Spin named ElyOtto "the face of hyperpop" in April 2021.[4] His debut EP is due for release later in 2021.[4] On April 23, 2021 a remix of "SugarCrash!" featuring Kim Petras and Curtis Waters was released.[14]
