Gladstone is a suburb of New Zealand's southernmost city, Invercargill.

The area is low-lying and at risk from flooding and sea level rise.[1]

Southland Boys' High School is located in Gladstone.

History[]

The suburb was targeted during a six week burglary spree in December 2019 and January 2020.[2]

In July 2020, a member of the public was injured during the aggravated robbery of a Gladstone convenience store.[3] Two men were charged over the incident the following month.[4]

In September 2020, the Southland Times reported high demand for land and housing in Gladstone.[5] However, in November 2020, Quotable Values released statistics showing house values were increasing at a slower rate than the rest of Invercargill.[6]
