Gopichand Kundalik Padalkar (born 1982) is an Indian politician belonging to the Bharatiya Janata Party.

He started his career in 2006. From the starting of his political journey, he has always worked for the people whose political vibrancy is very less. He has always worked for people for whom the political representation is equal to nothing. He is a member of Maharashtra Legislative Council. He got elected to the Legislative Council by MLA's (unopposed) on 14 May 2020, along with 9 others.^[1] previously he was in Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi, he joined BJP before 2019 Maharashtra Legislative Elections.^[2]

He born in Dhangar family of Padalkarwadi, Sangli district. His father was a primary teacher.^{[citation needed]}

Political career[]

Gopichand Padalkar belongs to Dhangar community from Maharashtra, He started his political career on 6 December 2006 from Rashtriya Samaj Paksha under the inspiration of Mahadev Jankar.^{[citation needed]} He contested Maharashtra Assembly election in 2009 from Rashtriya Samaj Paksha u and got 20,000 votes.^{[citation needed]}

In 2012 he joined Bhartiya Janata Party and contested 2014 assembly election from BJP from Atpadi-Khanapur constituency.

On 1 August he came through some differences on Dhangar community reservation with BJP and left the party.^{[importance?]}

In March 2019 he joined Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi and contested Sangali Lok Sabha seat. He gave tough fights to Sanjaykaka Patil and Vishal Patil by getting 3,00,234 votes. He had taken a swearing of god Biroba that he will not vote BJP if the party does not take action on Dhangar reservation while leaving the party in October 2018.^{[citation needed]}

After that he joined back BJP in October 2019 when BJP submitted in court that Dhangar and Dhangad is a same caste. He unsuccessfully contested Lok Sabha Elections from Sangali Lok Sabha seat in 2019 on Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi ticket, later he joined BJP and contested Vidhan Sabha elections from Baramati against Ajit Pawar, where he gave a tough fight only in 15 days after declaring his nomination. But he got less votes and lost by a margin of 1.5L so his election deposit was arrested by the election commission.

He got elected to the Legislative Council by MLA's (unopposed) on 14 May 2020, along with 9 others.^[3]
