Gwadar East Bay Expressway (Urdu: مشرقی خلیج بزرگرہ, Balochi: دیمی زر بزرگرہ) is a municipal expressway currently under construction in Gwadar, Balochistan, Pakistan.[1] The six lane expressway was initially planned to be complete by 2018 [1] but has been delayed to Oct 2021.[2] It will connect Gwadar Port to the Makran Coastal Highway. The Gwadar Port Authority is supervising the project.[3][4]

The project is being developed as part of the "Early Harvest" scheme of China Pakistan Economic Corridor, and is part of a wider 170.667 billion (US$1.1 billion) development package for the city and Port of Gwadar.[5]

The cost of the project is approximately 14.7 billion (US$92 million), and will be financed by interest-free loans extended by China's state owned banks.[6] Pakistan will be required only to repay the principal value of the loan. As a condition for receiving a zero-interest rate loan, bidding for the project was limited to Chinese state-owned companies, and the contract was awarded on a government-to-government basis.[7]
