HD 75116 (HR 3491) is a solitary star in the southern constellation Volans. With an apparent magnitude of 6.31, it is faintly visible to the naked eye under ideal conditions. The star is located 914 light-years (280 parsecs) based on parallax, but is drifting closer with a radial velocity of −16 km/s.

Properties[]

HD 75116 has a classification K3(III), which states that it's a K3 giant, but there's uncertainty about the luminosity class. It has 2.29 times the Sun’s mass but has expanded to 39.18 times the Sun's radius. HD 75116 radiates at 431 times the Sun's luminosity from it's swollen photosphere at an effective temperature of 4,202 K. Like many giants, it rotates slowly.
