Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha (Korean갯마을 차차차; RRGaenmaeul Chachacha; lit. Seaside Village Chachacha) is an upcoming South Korean television series starring Shin Min-a, Kim Seon-ho and Lee Sang-yi. It is a remake of 2004 South Korean film Mr. Handy, Mr. Hong.[3] It is scheduled to premiere on tvN on August 28, 2021 and will air every Saturday and Sunday at 21:00 (KST).[4][5] It will also be available internationally for streaming on Netflix.[6]

Synopsis[]

Set in the seaside village of Gongjin, it is about the romance between pragmatic dentist Yoon Hye-jin (Shin Min-a) and neighborhood handyman Hong Du-sik (Kim Seon-ho).[7][8]

He is known as Mr. Hong around the village. He is unemployed officially, but is always busy giving a helping hand to everyone. He is good at everything and appears to assist whatever random tasks his neighbors need help with.[1][5]

Production[]

The series, written by Shin Ha-eun, was first announced on December 21, 2020 under the working title of Hong Ban-jang (홍반장) with Kim Seon-ho and Shin Min-a being offered the lead roles.[20]

The first script reading of the cast was held on April 21, 2021. Filming was scheduled to begin on May 8, which was conducted mainly in Pohang.[21][22]
