Huang Junjie

Huang Junjie (Chinese: 黄俊捷; pinyin: Huáng Jùnjié; born 9 July 1998), is a Chinese actor. He is a student of Beijing Film Academy.^[1]

Early life and education[]

In 2014, Huang was admitted to Sichuan Mianyang Art School, majoring in theatre and film performing arts.

In 2018, Huang took the art test and won the second place in the Beijing Film Academy's performing arts major with a score of 90.98.^[2] He also won the national fifth place in the performing arts major of the Central Academy of Drama.

Career[]

In 2016, Huang made his acting debut as the male lead in the youth basketball film 24 Seconds.^[3][4] The same year, he starred in the fantasy drama Fox in the Screen.^[5]

In 2017, Huang became known for his leading role in the youth campus drama The Big Boss.^[6]

In 2018, Huang starred in the fantasy romance web drama Unexpected as Gong Cheng.^[7]

In 2020, Huang starred in the historical romance drama Dr. Cutie as the male lead.^[8] The same year, he starred in the xianxia romance drama Eternal Love of Dream as Bai Zhen.^[9] Huang attracted attention with his portrayal of Zhang Qiling in the tomb-raiding web series Reunion: The Sound of the Providence, adapted from the Daomu Biji series.^[10][11][12]

In 2021, Huang starred in the historical romance drama Truth or Dare as Mei Shiqing.^[13] The remake of the period comedy series in 2001 Wrong Carriage, Right Groom.

Personal life[]

On December 2, 2020, Huang was caught by the media walking with a mysterious woman. In the video, the two of them appear to be holding hands in a shopping center. Then a few days later, Huang and the woman reportedly returned to the Beijing hotel to check in and go to a restaurant to have a meal together. While eating with the woman, she was caught leaning on Huang's shoulder. The two of them looked very close.

After rumours circulating that Huang was dating a woman who was considered older or auntie, suddenly the latest news that farther concerned Huang. Another girl (who is not the individual in the video) who owns the Weibo account titled Flower is Super Good (Chinese: 花儿超级乖; pinyin: Huā Er Chāo Jí Guāi) shared several voice recordings and text screenshots to prove that she has been in a relationship with Huang, even when she knew that Huang was dating someone else already. Hua said that she was not a fan of Huang, because she did not know that Huang was a famous person. Hua also said that Huang was the one who approached her and added her on WeChat. Hua also alluded that she lost her virginity to Huang.^[14] She also recalled the time when he asked her to take emergency contraception after they had unprotected sex. From some screenshots it is stated that Huang is dating the auntie woman because he gets resources from her, because she is from the rich and wealthy family. In the chat it was also revealed that Huang was tired with circumstances and did not want to risk his career. In essence he wanted to use a short way to earn income. There is also an audio recording of alleged Huang saying that he really hates being followed by his fans at the airport or anywhere. When in the conversation, someone asked him why he didn't tell them not to follow him. Huang felt that was very bad. The woman in the recording also felt that Huang really enjoyed and always interacted well with his fans. Huang said it was just to make money. When the rumors spread and became trending, Hua released a voice recording between her and a man who claimed to be Huang's cousin, urging her to release Huang. He hoped Hua would work closely with the PR team to solve this problem.

On December 3, 2020, Huang made a clarification stating

Huang also denies the validity of Hua's screenshots talking about dating each other and remarked that she will be handled by the law.^[16] After clarifying the situation, Huang disappeared from all social media.

On December 22, 2020, a Weibo user who claimed to be Flower is Super Good Parents (Chinese: 花儿超级乖爸妈; pinyin: Huā Er Chāo Jí Guāi Bà Mā) posted a message asking Huang to apologize to Hua. They said that this incident caused great psychological and emotional damage to their daughter.^[17] If Huang does not respond, he will be sue. For fans who maliciously slander their daughter out of context, they also reserve the right to sue at any time. Hua's parents also posted several screenshots of chats between themselves and their daughter. The screenshots show that Hua's parents have been aware of their daughter love affairs. Later, Hua's parents posted again, saying that Huang took the initiative to add their daughter's WeChat and asked to meet many times. Hua's parents have tried all kinds of methods and channels to contact Huang and his company in private, but have not received any response, so they have to post Weibo as a last resort. They hope that everyone will not scold Huang too much, and that this incident will pass sooner, and everyone will return to a normal and beautiful life, and they hope Huang will have a better development in the future.^[18][19]

On April 5, 2021, Huang posted an apology on his Weibo account.^[20] He explained his method in dealing with his private life and public affairs was wrong. He also apologized for avoiding his problems, "To those who once trusted me, I solemnly say sorry, I was wrong." Huang added that those involved in the matter have been under tremendous pressure from public opinion and sincerely apologized to them as well. After consulting with his family and company, he has decided to pause acting for a while. Huang explained he would be focusing on school and personal development so as to improve himself. He hope everyone can supervise and correct him in the future.^[21]

After Huang's apology, Hua issued a lengthy post over 5,000 words. She said her relationship with Huang officially started on October 27, 2020. She apologized to Huang and admitted a lot of the things she said was made up. Many things happened since then. A so-called cousin came forward, there were girls reaching out to Hua who claimed to be dating Huang too and his “friend” who came to mediate things said words that provoked her even more.^[22][23]

On April 1, 2021, Hua felt regret and met Huang to talk things, which she later found out that she was being used. During their meeting, Huang explained that he does not know the other rumored “girls” and said that the girl in the video was from before they met. When those calls she got from Huang's cousin and another person all came from the same ID. It turned out that Huang's friend did it to anger her. Hua asked Huang why he did not sue her but he said, “I don’t want to hurt you.” Hua felt remorse for ruining Huang's career and said the most recent things she said were to incite him and did not think his career would be affected.^[24] Hua also found out that Huang had been suffering from depression for the past few months, so his family members took his cell phone, that's why he never followed up with additional statements. Hua also said that Huang is a good person and won't boycott his future works. She said they won't get back together and won't contact each other, but they didn't remove each other as friends. Hua emphasized that she wasn't "bribed" by anyone and this last statement was made by herself. She said, "I swear that every word I said was true. People who receive money to do something will experience a miserable death." Lastly, she mentioned Huang's condition is really bad and hoped everyone could give him a chance. She wishes that production companies and brands will not be misled and that she will try her best to make up for the negative impact because he wasn’t wrong, she was.^[25]

On August 3, 2021, Hua posted a clarification on rumors about her and Huang living together in Beijing after a photo claimed to be her and Huang walking together holding hands spreading online. Hua said they did not stay together, because they are on summer holiday and in their hometowns. Hua admits that she was back with Huang, but Huang's fans club forbade the publication of the relationship. Hua said that she and Huang have been communicating carefully, working well, reflecting together, making corrections, and working together to solve the previous problems. Huang also suspended his new acting work, did not appear in the public eye, and studied safely. He just want to study hard, polish his acting skills, practice art seriously, and be a good person. Hua hopes that fans do not be too entangled in discussing and interfering in her relationship with Huang. She criticized the attitude of the fans and told them to stop spreading rumors and stop causing troubles.^[26][27]

In real life, Huang is a cheerful and warm person (Netease Entertainment Review),^[34] a lively and bright boy who loves to laugh. In interviews, Huang always makes people feel unlike talking to a high school character evaluating a boy, because he has a clear plan for his life and is working hard to move forward. When filming Fox in the Screen, Bai Sheng's role positioning was a challenge for Huang. In order to better figure out the characters and roles, Huang made full preparations. He is not only read through the original book, but also borrowed from the script of Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio. His notes are densely packed (Huaxi Metropolis Daily Review).^[35]
