PT Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (HMMI) is a future automobile manufacturing plant in Cikarang, Bekasi Regency, Indonesia. The plant and the future sales company, PT Hyundai Motors Indonesia (HMID) is wholly owned subsidiary of the Hyundai Motor Company.[1] HMMI is a successor of PT Hyundai Indonesia Motor, a locally owned company which held rights to assemble Hyundai cars in Indonesia since 1996,[2] while HMID is a successor of PT Hyundai Mobil Indonesia (HMI), the locally owned distributor of Hyundai cars in Indonesia from 1999 to 2021.
The plant would be built in a 77.6 ha land in Cikarang and would fully operate in the second half of 2021 with the annual capacity of 150,000.[3] Half of the output would be exported to the neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia.[4] A total of US$1.55 million (Rp 21.7 trillion) would be invested to the plant along with the future product developments until 2030.[5] HMMI would produce a compact MPV among other models.
