The Independent Women's Football League (IWFL) was a full-contact Women's American football league that was founded in 2000, began play in 2001, and played its last season in 2018. Laurie Frederick, Deborah DelToro, and K Disney were the league's founders.
The players weren't paid to play; on the contrary, players had to contribute funds to cover part of their expenses.[1]
