Lightweight men's double scull was not an Olympic boat class at the time, and they qualified in the open weight class of the men's double scull, where they reached the A final and came a respectable fifth. Later that same month, they won the 1984 World Rowing Championships, and continued to row in different boat classes thereafter.[2][3]
