The Kerala Police[2][3] is the law enforcement agency for the Indian state of Kerala.[4] Kerala Police has its headquarters in Thiruvananthapuram, the state capital. The motto of the force is "Mridhu Bhave Dhrida Kruthye" which means "Soft in Temperament, Firm in Action" in Sanskrit.

Prior to independence, the Kerala Police was governed by different administrations.[5]

Departments[]

There is a section known as the General Executive working in the police stations in Kerala.[6]

Crime Branch[]

The Crime Branch (CBCI) is investigating incidents of misconduct or crime at the inter-district level. The government can ask the government or the courts to take up a case with them.

Positions (Ranks)[]

The ranks in the Kerala Police range from Civil Police Officer (CPO) to DGP. Direct appointment to the posts of Civil Police Officer (CPO), Sub-Inspector of Police through Kerala PSC and to the post of ASP for IPS recruitment to Kerala cadre through UPSC Civil Service Aptitude Test.[7][8][9]
