Main characters[]

Marinette Dupain-Cheng / Ladybug[]

Marinette Dupain-Cheng a.k.a. Ladybug (voiced by Cristina Vee in the English dub[1][2] and by Anouck Hautbois in the French version) is a 15-year-old blue haired, blue-eyed, budding fashion designer at Collège Françoise-Dupont and her family operates a renowned bakery. Marinette is sweet, joyful, clumsy, and sometimes a bit awkward, but respected by her peers and is extremely intelligent despite her occasional clumsy ways. Her fashion designs go way far beyond the limits, that even Gabriel Agreste and Audrey Bourgeois find her exceptional, and soon, the latter expects her to go to New York with her to be the greatest name in fashion, much to the annoyance of her daughter, Chloé. Marinette is deeply in love with Adrien Agreste, to whom she can barely speak to out of nervousness; her best friend Alya often tries to help Marinette to declare her love to him, only for it to end in failure. In Season 3, she also experiences romantic interest in Luka Couffaine, and they two date briefly breaking breaking up in "Truth" and deciding to remain friends in "Crocoduel".

As shown in "Ladybug and Cat Noir (Origins - Part 1)", Marinette was chosen by Master Fu as the latest holder of the Ladybug Miraculous, and with the help of her kwami, Tikki, she can transform into the valiant and vivacious superheroine "Ladybug" (French: Coccinelle) to defend Paris from Hawk Moth's villains alongside Cat Noir. As Ladybug, she becomes more confident and serious, often brushing off Cat Noir's advances on her, unaware that he is secretly Adrien, but she does later come to value his friendship and depend upon him in their missions. Her weapons is a yo-yo with endless, unbreakable string, and her special power, "Lucky Charm", allows her to create an object to help solve a specific problem; generally, defeating an akumatized villain. Once the problem has been solved, she is able to use her second power, "Miraculous Ladybug", to restore things to the way they were and repair all damage. Her yo-yo is also capable of capturing and purifying akumas, storing items, and like all Miraculous tools, acts as a phone and communicator for her to use.

In "Reflekdoll", Marinette temporarily obtains the Cat Miraculous and transforms into "Lady Noir". In "Kwamibuster", she temporarily wields the Mouse Miraculous as part of her plan to defeat the titular villain, transforming into "Multimouse". On several occasions, Marinette has used another Miraculous in conjunction with the Ladybug Miraculous, "unifying' their power into one to gain new abilities; thus far, she has unified with the Dragon Miraculous to become "Dragonbug", the Bee Miraculous to become "Ladybee", and the Horse Miraculous to become "Pegabug" (in "Miracle Queen", "Optigami", and "Sentibubbler" respectively).

As of "Miracle Queen", Marinette has become Master Fu's successor, and the new Guardian of the Miraculous in Paris. As such, Ladybug starts to develop new abilities as the Guardian, now able to summon any Miraculous she needs through her yo-yo. In "Gang of Secrets", unable to handle the stress of her new responsibilities alone, she reveals her secret identity to Alya. Immediately after in "Mr. Pigeon 72", Alya helps Ladybug to recognize the Ladybug Miraculous' creation powers, allowing her to generate a new outfit and create "Magical Charms" to keep Shadow Moth's victims from being akumatized again.

Tikki[]

Tikki (voiced by Mela Lee in the English dub[1] and Marie Nonnenmacher in the French version) is the Kwami of creation who enables Marinette to transform into Ladybug. Tikki is a small floating humanoid with a large head, big eyes, and a red body with large black spots on her head, resembling a ladybug. Tikki is a positive and serious Kwami, who believes strongly in Marinette and she gives her advice to be the best that she can be, regardless of transformation.[3] She is more than 13 billion years old, and has watched over every Ladybug since the beginning.[a] During Marinette's transformation, Tikki inhabits the Ladybug Miraculous, a pair of earrings worn by Marinette. Astruc has written on Twitter that Tikki means "happiness".[4]

Adrien Agreste / Cat Noir[]

Adrien Agreste a.k.a. Chat Noir/Cat noir (Depends on language) (French for = "Black Cat") (voiced by Bryce Papenbrook in the English dub[1][2] and Benjamin Bollen in the French version) is Marinette's classmate whom she has a huge crush on, though he is oblivious to her crush and only sees Marinette as a friend. Adrien comes from a wealthy family, and is a popular fashion model for the clothing company of his father Gabriel though he laments the poor relationship he has with him; his mother, meanwhile, has inexplicably disappeared.[b] Adrien is kind, loyal, sensitive and well-liked, and hangs out often with his best friend Nino.

As shown in "Ladybug and Cat Noir (Origins - Part 1)", Adrien was chosen by Master Fu as the latest holder of the Cat Miraculous (also called the Black Cat Miraculous), and with the help of his kwami, Plagg, can transform into the superhero Cat Noir (French: Chat Noir, "black cat") to fight with Ladybug in saving Paris from Hawk Moth's villains. As Cat Noir, he is more rebellious and care-free, while also being deeply in love with Ladybug and often trying to win her affections, despite not knowing her true identity. His weapon is a multi-functional staff and his special power, "Cataclysm", allows him to destroy anything he touches.[3][c][d]

In "Reflekdoll", Adrien temporarily uses the Ladybug. Miraculous and becomes "Mister Bug". In "Desperada", Ladybug recruits Adrien with the Snake Miraculous to become "Aspik", unaware of him being a Miraculous holder himself; however, he returns it to her due to his constant failures in stopping Desperada. Like Ladybug, he can unify Miraculouses together, unifying with the Snake Miraculous to become "Snake Noir" in "Miracle Queen". In the same episode, he starts a relationship with Kagami, but is unsure of his feelings as he is still in love with Ladybug, eventually leading to them breaking up in "Lies".

In "Cat Blanc", an alternate timeline is shown in which Adrien deduces Marinette's secret identity and begins a relationship with her, however, this leads to Hawk Moth finding out his identity and eventually akumatizing him into the titular villain; an evil white version of Cat Noir who has the power of infinite destruction. Cat Blanc's power ends up destroying Paris and the entire world, but, with help from Bunnyx, Ladybug is able to de-akumatize him and prevent said timeline from happening.

Plagg[]

Plagg (voiced by Max Mittelman in the English dub[1] and Thierry Kazazian in the French version) is the Kwami of destruction who enables Adrien to transform into Cat Noir. Plagg looks much like Tikki, but with a black body, green eyes, and pointed ears, resembling a black cat. Unlike Tikki, however, Plagg is sarcastic and lazy, in a parallel to Cat Noir's relationship with Ladybug. Although he cares for Adrien, he is less invested in his problems and often gives wrong or destructive advice. His favorite food is camembert, which he is shown to have an obsession for.[3] During his Adrien's transformation as Cat Noir, he inhabits the Black Cat Miraculous, a ring worn by Adrien on his right hand. He is notably the first kwami to be shown shown using his abilities, using his Cataclysm to help Ladybug in "Style Queen" and Adrien in "Catalyst"; however, without a holder to channel his power, it can cause untold destruction. Likewise, Master Fu claims in "Style Queen" that Plagg's irresponsibility with his powers caused the sinking of Atlantis, the tilting of the Leaning Tower of Pisa, and the destruction of the dinosaurs.

Gabriel Agreste / Hawk Moth / Shadow Moth / Scarlet Moth []

Gabriel Agreste (French: Le Papillon, lit. "the butterfly", voiced by Keith Silverstein in the English dub[1][5] and Antoine Tomé in the French version[6]) is a famous fashion designer, and Adrien's strict, overprotective father. He serves as the main antagonist of the series.

Having acquired both the Butterfly and Peacock Miraculouses prior to the series, he uses the former Miraculous and its kwami, Nooroo, to transform into the supervillain Hawk Moth. His weapon is a cane that acts as a sword stick, and his special power, "Akumatization", allows him to create akumas; corrupted butterflies that are drawn to intense negative emotions. Once he has acquired a target, Hawk Moth is able to send the akuma to possess and transform his victim into a supervillain with special powers, which he uses in an effort to acquire Ladybug and Cat Noir's Miraculouses. Gabriel's prime motivation for stealing the superheroes' Miraculous is to use their combined power to restore his comatose wife, Emilie. As Hawk Moth, his transformation call is "Nooroo, Dark Wings Rise!".

In "The Collector", in an effort to conceal his secret identity, Gabriel akumatizes himself into the titular villain, with the power to trap anything that touches the pages of his blank sketchbook. On more than one occasion, he has transformed himself into "Scarlet Moth" with the help of Catalyst, enhancing his abilities so that he can create as many akumas as he wants.

In season four, Gabriel unifies the Butterfly and the newly-repaired Peacock Miraculous together to become "Shadow Moth". This allows him to use both the power of Akumatization and Amokization. Amokization power allows him to bring emotions to life and create senti-monsters to help in on his quest to gain Ladybug and Cat Noir's Miraculouses.

Major recurring characters[]

Alya Césaire / Rena Rouge / Rena Furtive[]

Alya Césaire a.k.a. Rena Rouge ("Red Fox") (voiced by Carrie Keranen in the English dub[7] and Fanny Bloc in the French version) is Marinette's best friend. She constantly helps Marinette with her problems, most of which pertain to Marinette attempting, and failing, to speak to Adrien; she is often seen encouraging and helping her to talk to him. She aspires to be a journalist and is in charge of the school blog. She is a big fan of superheroes and like her peers, is a massive fan of Ladybug; she even operates a fansite known as the Ladyblog, but like everyone else, is unaware of Marinette's superhero identity for the series' first three seasons.[8]

In "Lady Wifi", after being suspended from school while trying to investigate Ladybug's secret identity, she is akumatized by Hawk Moth and becomes the smartphone-wielding supervillain Lady Wifi, who can fire different icons with different effects, such as pause and lock, and can travel through wifi-serviced phones. In "Oblivio", she and Nino are akumatized to become a joint supervillain as Oblivio, who can erase the victim's memories and has a purple silhouette body. She becomes Lady Wifi again in "Félix" when she, Rose and Juleka are simultaneously akumatized because of Félix's actions, and with Princess Fragrance and Reflekta, forms the "Punishers Trio"; notably, unlike in her previous incarnation, Lady Wifi is shown to have no weakness to losing her Wi-Fi signal, as she uses a tablet with satellite connection. In "Gang of Secrets", she becomes Lady Wifi once more, teaming up with Princess Fragrance, Reflekta, Horrificator and Timebreaker to become the Gang of Secrets, who pursue Marinette in order to force her to reveal the secrets she is keeping from them. Notably, when convinced by Ladybug to help her, Lady Wifi becomes the first villain in the series to break free of Shadow Moth's control completely.

In "Sapotis," she temporarily receives the Fox Miraculous from Ladybug and meets its kwami of illusion Trixx, and transforms into the fox-themed superhero Rena Rouge. Her weapon is a flute that doubles as a staff and her special power, "Mirage", allows her to create illusions. Her transformation call is "Trixx, Let's Pounce!" (French: Trixx, transforme-moi!, "Trixx, transform me!").[9] Rena Rouge is frequently called upon throughout the series; appearing in "Syren", "Catalyst" "Mayura", "Miraculer" and "Miracle Queen". In the former episode, she, along with all of the other temporary Miraculous holders, has her identity revealed to Hawk Moth.

In "Gang of Secrets", Marinette tells Alya that she is Ladybug, making her the second person after Master Fu to know her secret identity. Alya then continues to help Marinette as herself and Rena Rouge throughout the season, and, in "Optigami", Marinette allows Alya to hold onto the Fox Miraculous permanently and act in her place if need be. In the following episode, "Sentibubbler", after realizing that Alya holds a special position with Ladybug, Shadow Moth tries to blackmail her into betraying Ladybug by threatening her friends and family, but Alya instead tricks him into thinking that she will never hold the Fox Miraculous again with her illusions. Because of this, Alya adopts a new identity as "Rena Furtive", covertly watching over Ladybug and Cat Noir to keep them safe from Shadow Moth's traps, complete with a new uniform to suit her role. In "Hack-San", Marinette temporarily entrusts Alya with the Ladybug Miraculous, allowing her to transform into "Scarabella".

Nino Lahiffe / Carapace[]

Nino Lahiffe[10] a.k.a. Carapace (voiced by Ben Diskin in seasons 1–3 of the English dub,[11] Zeno Robinson in Miraculous World: New York: United HeroeZ-present of the English dub,[12] and Alexandre Nguyen in the French version[13]) is Adrien's best friend who dresses in skate punk fashion, typically seen with headphones around his neck and a cap on his head. He DJs at the school's radio station.[8] Nino had a crush on Marinette, but in "Animan", he discovers that he has more in common with Alya, and they become a couple.[e]

In "The Bubbler", after growing upset with the unfairness of adults, he is akumatized by Hawk Moth into The Bubbler, who can create and manipulate bubbles. In "Oblivio," he and Alya were akumatized again into one supervillain, as Oblivio, a purple silhouette villain who can erase their victim's memories. In "Rocketear", believing that Alya has fallen in love with Cat Noir, Nino is akumatized into the titular villain with the power to emit exploding tears. When he realizes that his belief was simply a misunderstanding, Rocketear rejects Shadow Moth's influence, becoming the second villain after Lady Wifi to do so.

In "Anansi", he temporarily receives the Turtle Miraculous from Ladybug and meets its kwami of protection Wayzz, and transforms into the turtle-themed superhero Carapace. His weapon is a shield and his special power, "Shell-ter", allows him to create a force field. His transformation call is "Wayzz, Shell On!" (French: Wayzz, transforme-moi!, "Wayzz, transform me!"). Carapace is frequently called upon throughout the series; appearing "Catalyst", "Mayura", "Miraculer", "Party Crasher", "Mega Leech" and "Rocketear". "Optigami" implies that he has also been called upon for missions off-screen as well. When Carapace is akumatized, he turns into Shell Shock. In "Miracle Queen", Nino has his identity revealed to Hawk Moth, although like Kagami, he doesn't have the opportunity to transform, since the Turtle Miraculous was being used by Master Fu as the Jade Turtle. In "Rocketear", Nino reveals his and Alya's secret identities to Adrien.

When asked about Alya and Nino's ethnicity, Astruc wrote on Twitter that one of them was from Réunion, and later wrote that Alya was from Martinique.[14]

Chloé Bourgeois / Queen Bee[]

Chloé Bourgeois a.k.a. Queen Bee (voiced by Selah Victor in the English dub[15] and Marie Chevalot in the French version[16]) is the mayor's conceited and spoiled daughter.[8] She acts as a bully to the rest of her classmates, and often uses her wealth and status to push other people around as well; on several occasions, her behavior is directly responsible for creating victims for Hawk Moth's akumatization. More than once, Hawk Moth is shown to be aware of this, and plays on her cruelty in order to create targets for himself. She is Adrien's only childhood friend and often tries to charm him, resulting in a constant rivalry with Marinette for his affections. Despite her hatred of Marinette, she is a huge fan of Ladybug,[8] to the point of owning a Ladybug costume which she uses to imitate her in private. She is also known for saying "Ridiculous! Utterly ridiculous!", which is later revealed to be taken from her mother, Audrey.[17] Despite her cruelty, is it shown several times that she does have good buried within her. In "Ladybug & Cat Noir (Origins, Part 1)", it is revealed that she has been classmates with Marinette for 4 consecutive years.[f]

In "Antibug," she is akumatized by Hawk Moth and becomes the supervillain Antibug, gaining all of Ladybug's abilities in order to seek revenge upon her for pushing her aside.

In "Style Queen", she finds the Bee Miraculous after Ladybug accidentally loses in the battle with Style Queen and meets its kwami of subjection Pollen, allowing her to transform into the superheroine Queen Bee. In the following episode, "Queen Wasp", she publicly transforms into Queen Bee in an attempt to impress her mother. This makes her the first Miraculous holder to expose their secret identity. Her weapon is a spinning top and her special power, "Venom", which allows her to use a paralyzing sting. Her transformation call is "Pollen, Buzz On!" In the same episode, she is akumatized by Hawk Moth again and becomes the supervillain Queen Wasp, with control over an army of wasps that paralyze people just as her Venom power does.

In "Miraculer", she is suspended from being Queen Bee due to her public identity putting herself and her family at risk, and gradually starts to lose faith in Ladybug. In "Heart Hunter", Hawk Moth convinces Chloé to turn against Ladybug, and grants her the Bee Miraculous after stealing the Miracle Box. Hawk Moth then akumatizes her into "Miracle Queen", a supervillain who sends out an army of wasps to brainwash all of Paris, which she uses to summon and reveal all the Miraculous holders. When Chloé's betrayal is revealed, Ladybug permanently strips her of her powers and hero status. Chloé then renounces all admiration and loyalty to Ladybug, becoming her enemy.

In "Sole Crusher", she is revealed to have a half-sister named Zoé Lee, who moves from New York City to Paris and soon befriends Marinette and her classmates, much to Chloe's chagrin. Later in "Queen Banana", Chloé ends her friendship with Adrien when he calls her out about her mistreatment of their classmates, and is akumatized by Shadow Moth into Queen Banana, a supervillainess who can turn people into bananas and commands a giant gorilla-like sentimonster named Banana Boom Boom. After being de-akumatized, Chloé lashes out at Ladybug and the new Bee Miraculous holder, Vesperia (unaware that she is actually Zoé). Before Shadow Moth can akumatize her again, Zoé tricks Chloé into putting on a Magical Charm to repel the akuma.

Tom Dupain[]

Tom Dupain (voiced by Christopher Corey Smith in the English dub[18] and Martial Le Minoux) is Marinette's father and the proprietor of his family bakery, the Tom & Sabine Boulangerie Patisserie. He is named after Thomas Astruc, the creator of the series.[19]

In "Weredad", when Marinette is seemingly heartbroken by Cat Noir, he is akumatized by Hawk Moth into Weredad, a guard dog-themed supervillain with increased strength and the ability to manipulate thorny vines.

Sabine Cheng[]

Sabine Cheng (voiced by Philece Sampler in season 1-4 of the English dub[citation needed], Anne Yatco in season 4-onward of the English dub, and Jessie Lambotte in the French version[20]) is Marinette's mother. In "Miraculous Shanghai", it is revealed that she was born as Cheng Xia Bing (Xia Bing Cheng in western order)[21] before taking the name Sabine when she moved to Paris. It is also revealed that she was raised in Shanghai by her great uncle, Wang Cheng, and has a sister named Shu Yin, who is mentioned in "Hack-San" to be living in London. She was named after Thomas Astruc's girlfriend at the time, who is French-Chinese.[22]

In "Ladybug", she is almost akumatized into a villain named Verity Queen by Scarlet Moth, but Catalyst succumbs to exhaustion caused by the damaged Peacock Miraculous, distracting Scarlet Moth and cancelling the procedure before she can be transformed.

Master Fu[]

Master Wang Fu (Chinese: 王富 Wáng Fu), (voiced by Paul St. Peter in the English dub and Gilbert Lévy in the French version) is a former healer and the Guardian of the Miraculouses—the last remaining member of the Order of Guardians—who is responsible for giving Marinette and Adrien their Miraculouses to stop Hawk Moth and his villains' evil-doings. Fu claims that he is 186 years old, making him the oldest known human character in the series. In "Volpina" and "The Collector", Fu and Marinette formally meet for the first time, and throughout season 2 and 3, she goes to him in order to collect specific Miraculouses and recruit new heroes. In "Syren", he meets with Adrien, and supplies both him and Marinette with special power-ups to use for specific missions. In "Backwarder", it is revealed that he wants Marinette to become his successor and also has an old flame named Marinanne, whom he parted ways with during World War II.

In "Feast", Fu tells Marinette his origins as a young man chosen to become a Guardian at the Order of Guardians' temple, until he misused the Peacock Miraculous and created a sentimonster that ended up destroying the temple and devoured the other Miraculouses; the Miraculouses of the Peacock and the Butterfly along with the Miraculous Spellbook being lost when Fu escaped the Temple, all three later coming into Hawk Moth's possession. By the end of the episode, Ladybug and Cat Noir defeat the sentimonster and restore things to normal, thus returning the Guardians' temple and redeeming Fu's mistake. In "Miracle Queen", Fu passes ownership of the Miracle Box to Marinette, losing all of his memories as part of the transition. He then reunites with Marinanne, and together, they leave Paris.

In "Furious Fu", Fu briefly returns to Paris with Marinanne, whom he is now married to and living with in London. When angered and assaulted by Su-Han, he is akumatized by Hawk Moth into Furious Fu, with the power bring to life words painted on different talismans. Once defeated, he makes amends with Su-Han and departs from Paris once more.

The Gorilla[]

Adrien's bodyguard (voiced by Ezra Weisz in the English dub and Guilbert Lévy in the French version) is the unnamed bodyguard and chauffeur of Adrien. He never speaks at all, only communicating through grunts and expressions; this, along with his massive exterior, has earned him the nickname of "The Gorilla" from Adrien and other characters. He cares for Adrien's safety and almost never leaves his side. In "Party Crasher", he is shown to be a major collector of superhero action figures.

In "Gorizilla", while trying to find a runaway Adrien, the bodyguard is akumatized into the titular giant gorilla-themed supervillain who has enormous strength and a keen sense of smell.

Nathalie Sancoeur / Mayura[]

Nathalie Sancoeur (voiced by Sabrina Weisz in the English dub[23] and Marie Chevalot in the French version[citation needed]) is Gabriel Agreste's personal assistant, She is the only person to know of his identity as Hawk Moth, and willfully assists him in his goals out of romantic feelings. She is the secondary antagonist in the series.

In "Catalyst", she is willingly akumatized by Hawk Moth into the titular villain, who can enhance the powers of others, using this ability to transform him into Scarlet Moth. In the following episode, "Mayura", to prevent Hawk Moth's capture by the heroes, she uses the Peacock Miraculous to transform into the supervillain Mayura. Her weapon is a hand-fan, and her special power, "Amokization", allows her to use corrupted amok feathers to create Sentimonsters; creatures forged out of powerful emotions, who act as allies and protectors of whoever wields the object the amok possessed. Her transformation call is "Duusu, Spread my Feathers!". Nathalie continues to help Hawk Moth as Mayura throughout season 3, although, as the Miraculous is damaged, it begins to cause her gradual health problems.[24] In "Miracle Queen", after their retreat from Ladybug and Cat Noir, Nathalie gives Fu's tablet to Gabriel, containing a translated version of the Miraculous Spellbook, allowing him to finally repair the Peacock Miraculous.

In season 4, Nathalie is revealed to be bedridden after the events of "Miracle Queen", due to her constant use of the Peacock Miraculous. In "Optigami", it is revealed that sometime prior to the events of the episode, she created a Sentimonster named Optigami, an origami butterfly-shaped creature with the ability to camouflage and spy on the everyday lives of the Miraculous users.

Lila Rossi[]

Lila Rossi (voiced by Lisa Kay Jennings in the English dub[25] and Clara Soares in the French version) is the daughter of Italian diplomats who moves to Paris and joins Miss Bustier's class. She is a cunning and talented liar who craves attention and uses dishonest means to get it, bringing her into conflict with both Marinette and Ladybug. According to Thomas Austruc, she was intentionally created to be unlovable.[26] She acts as a recurring antagonist throughout the series.

In "Volpina", when Ladybug exposes her lies to Adrien, Lila is akumatized by Hawk Moth into Volpina, a fox-themed villain with the power to create illusions, similar to that of a Fox Miraculous holder. Although Ladybug is able to de-akumatize her, she still remains bitter and refuses to forgive her. Lila returns in "Catalyst" and "Mayura", where Hawk Moth takes advantage of her hatred of Ladybug spiking on Heroes' Day, transforming her back into Volpina. Volpina goes on to play a major role in his plan by demoralizing Paris with an illusion of an akumatized Ladybug destroying Cat Noir, and later creates an illusion of Scarlet Moth to fool Ladybug and Cat Noir.

In the season 3 premiere, "Chameleon", Lila returns to school and becomes antagonistic towards Marinette when she sees through her lies. Seeking revenge on Ladybug, she allows herself to be akumatized by taking an akuma initially meant for Marinette, becoming the supervillain Chameleon, who can turn into anyone she wants by kissing them, putting them to sleep. In "Oni-Chan", she enrages Kagami by sharing a picture of her kissing Adrien, and becomes her victim when she is akumatized into Oni-Chan, although she eventually convinces the villain to destroy Ladybug for her instead. At the end of the episode, she formally meets Gabriel, and agrees to work with him and keep an eye out on Adrien's friends; in reality, Gabriel uses her lying talents to benefit his activities as Hawk Moth, using her to make Chloé vulnerable in "Miraculer" and later taking advantage of the chaos she sows into Marinette's life in "Ladybug" to akumatize all of her friends and family. By the end of "Ladybug", she is rewarded for her efforts by becoming a new model for the Agreste brand alongside Adrien.

Kagami Tsurugi / Ryûko[]

Kagami Tsurugi (voiced by Faye Mata in the English dub and Clara Soares in the French version) is a Japanese teen girl who is introduced in season 2. Like Chloé and Lila, she is presented as a rival for Marinette in gaining Adrien's affections, although she is far less antagonistic than the former two, and she and Marinette officially become friends in "Ikari Gozen". She hails from a family of celebrated fencers, and often acts as Adrien's main opponent in his fencing classes. Like Adrien, she feels isolated and desires freedom from her strict and controlling mother, Tomoe.

In "Riposte", Kagami makes her first appearance as a new student for the D'Argencourt Fencing Academy, and when rejected she is akumatized by Hawk Moth into Riposte, a fencing/samurai-themed supervillain with the power to cut through anything using her saber. In "Oni-Chan", Kagami is akumatized again into Oni-Chan, an oni/demon and rose-themed villain, who follows Lila with a horn on her forehead relentlessly by swapping locations with those who receive her picture message of a horn on their cell phones. In "Lies", feeling hurt by Adrien's constant lying, she is akumatized by Shadow Moth into Lies, gaining the ability to paralyze anyone who has ever told a lie.

In "Ikari Gozen", she temporarily receives the Dragon Miraculous from Ladybug and meets its Kwami Longg, and transforms into the dragon-themed superhero "Ryuko". Her weapon is a sword and her special power allows her to call upon three separate transformations into air, water or lightning.[27] Her transformation call is "Longg, bring the storm!". Despite accidentally revealing her identity to Hawk Moth in her debut, Ryuko makes later appearances in "Heart Hunter" and "Mega Leech". At the end of "Miracle Queen", she and Adrien begin dating, but Kagami calls off their relationship in "Lies" due to his dishonesty, although they remain friends.

Luka Couffaine / Viperion[]

Luka Couffaine (also Couphène)[8] (voiced by Andrew Russell in the English dub[28] and Gauthier Battoue in the French version) is the brother of Juleka Couffaine. He has been in love with Marinette since the first time they met, though she currently considers him as a close friend who comforts her when she is down, usually when she is upset at not being able to tell Adrien her feelings.

In "Silencer", after Bob Roth threatens Marinette, Luka is akumatized by Hawk Moth into Silencer, a voice-stealing supervillain able to take and impersonate his victims' voices. As Silencer, he confesses his love for Marinette, and reaffirms this once he is de-akumatzied. In "Truth", he is akumatized again into Truth, gaining the ability to force anyone to tell the truth, as well as a Sentimonster called "Light Eye" that can freeze his victims in place. Using his powers, he discovers that Jagged Stone is his father, and the two begin a relationship at the end of the episode.

In "Desperada", he temporarily receives the Snake Miraculous from Ladybug and meets its kwami Sass, and transforms into the snake-themed superhero Viperion.[g] His weapon is a lyre and his special power, "Second Chance", lets him rewind time up to five minutes to fix a mistake. His transformation call is "Sass, scales slither!" Viperion makes later appearances in "Party Crasher", "Miracle Queen" and "Wishmaker".

In "Miracle Queen", he and Marinette begin dating. However, unable to handle lying to him about her secret identity, Marinette breaks up with him; he and Marinette later decide to make up and remain friends in "Crocoduel". In "Wishmaker", Luka, as Viperion, becomes aware of both Marinette and Adrien's secret identities when they are affected by Wishmaker's powers, although he resets time to prevent them from being exposed. Ultimately, he keeps this fact secret from both Marinette and Adrien, becoming the third person after Master Fu and Bunnyx to be aware of both their identities.

She is rivals with Kim. On Twitter, Thomas Astruc confirmed that she is aromantic; meaning does not experience romantic attraction.[31]

In "Timebreaker", when her family heirloom, a pocket watch, is destroyed, she is akumatized by Hawk Moth into Timebreaker, a rollerblading supervillain who steals energy from people in order to power herself up enough to travel through time. Alix becomes Timebreaker again in "Catalyst" and again in "Gang of Secrets", where she teams up with Lady Wifi, Princess Fragrance, Reflekta and Horrificator to become the Gang of Secrets.

In "Timetagger", it is revealed that her family's pocket watch is actually the Rabbit Miraculous in disguise, and that she will wield it as the superhero Bunnyx in the future. Her future self's weapon is an umbrella and her special power, "Burrow", lets her travel through time. Her future self's transformation call is "Fluff, clockwise!" Later, Bunnyx returns in "Cat Blanc" and brings Ladybug to the future where Paris is destroyed by the titular character. In the same episode, she is shown to be aware of Ladybug and Cat Noir's secret identities, as well as Hawk Moth's.

He is best friends with Kim, and is the creator of Markov. On Twitter, Thomas Astruc confirmed that he is asexual; meaning he does not experience sexual attraction.[33]

Kwamis use the Miraculouses to transform their holders into animal-themed super beings with a fraction of their full power. While having a desire to do good, some kwamis like Nooroo and Duusu end up being used by villainous holders and are forced to aid them. Such precautions were set so that even if a kwami can sense each other's presence, they cannot reveal the identity of other Miraculous holders nor read from the Miraculous spellbook.

Duusu[]

Appearing in Miraculous World[]

The following characters appear in the Miraculous World films:

She is very strict and follows a tight code of ethics, growing frustrated with anyone who breaks her rules or doesn't appear to take superheroics seriously, like Ladybug and Cat Noir, and even her daughter, Jessica Keynes/Sparrow. Even so, she is able to respect those that prove themselves, allowing Sparrow to have more independence when she becomes Eagle. She is engaged in a relationship with Olympia Hill/Majestia.[74]

As revealed towards the end of the special, Barbara is actually the latest incarnation of Knightowl, as the mantle has been passed down for generations (it is implied that she was the Sparrow for the previous Knightowl), and as such disguises her gender while in-costume. Her costume and demeanor is presumably based upon Batman, while her civilian design is modelled off of Cristina Vee, Marinette Dupain-Cheng/Ladybug's English voice actor.[75]

Jessica Keynes / Sparrow / Eagle[]

Jessica Keynes a.k.a. Sparrow (voiced by Jaimi Gray as Jessica in the English dub, and Scott Whyte when masked in the English dub) is the daughter of Knightowl who appears in Miraculous New York. Her weapon is a Bullroarer, and her special power, Liberation, allows her to free anyone from their self-imposed limitations.

Prior to her official debut, a different version of Sparrow was originally conceived as a member of the Quantic Kids, a team of teenage superheroes that Ladybug and Cat Noir were a part of in the early production of the series, although the entire concept was ultimately disregarded.[76] Like how Knightowl is presumably based upon Batman, Sparrow is presumably based upon Batman's sidekick, Robin; specifically, the Dick Grayson incarnation.

She is kind and compassionate, and one of the most powerful heroes in the United States, possessing unrivaled strength, invulnerability, and flight. Once de-akumatized, he is arrested yet again.

Monk[]

The unnamed Native American monk (voiced by Grant George in the English dub) is a member of the Order of the Guardians that appeared in Miraculous New York as the guardian of the Native American Miraculous Box. He briefly appears at the end of the special to confront Eagle and Uncanny Valley and reclaim the Eagle Miraculous, but is instead convinced to stay in New York and create a new generation of heroes.

Fei Wu (voiced by Xanthe Huynh in the English dub) is a young martial artist who appears in Miraculous Shanghai. She is the adoptive daughter of Wu Shifu, learning kung fu and values under him in order to become the Guardian of the Sacred Cave. She is currently living with Wang Cheng, Marinette's great uncle.

After claiming the Prodigious jewel Shifu was protecting, she transforms into Ladydragon, gaining the ability to see creatures called Renlings, and transform into different animals if she possesses the values they represent. Her transformations include Lady Bear (calmness), Lady Mantis (patience), Lady Snake (courage), Lady Monkey (compassion), Lady Eagle (confidence), Lady Horse (honor), Lady Tiger (discipline), and finally her dragon form (justice). Through these values, Fei Wu was able to help Ladybug and Cat Noir calm Mei Shi and bring Cash to justice.

Fei is set to return in her own TV series.[80]

Renlings[]

The Renlings are sprite-like beings that appear in Miraculous Shanghai. They are "cousins" to the Kwamis[81] and represent human values. They grant whoever wields the Prodigious the ability to transform into the animals they resemble as long as they possess the values they represent.

When deeming Fei unworthy of wielding the Prodigious due to her quest for vengeance, Mei Shi is akumatized by Hawk Moth into YanLuoShi, a rampaging giant with the ability to disintegrate anyone with a powerful laser beam, who quickly betrays Hawk Moth and goes on a rampage in Shanghai.

Cash[]

Cash (voiced by Caleb Yen in the English dub) is a greedy crime boss who owns a pawn shop in Shanghai. He briefly appears in Miraculous New York and officially debuts in Miraculous Shanghai. Prior to the events of the special, he was responsible for the death of Wu Shifu, the destruction of his school, and stealing the bracelet Fei had been entrusted to protect, which he subsequently sold to Nathalie on behalf of Gabriel Agreste. He later has Shifu's daughter, Fei, steal for him in return for information about her father's killer. However, Fei eventually leaves him when he tries to make Marinette buy back her own things at his shop.

Overcome with greed in trying to get Marinette to turn over the money she owes him, he is akumatized by Hawk Moth into King Cash, a golden terracotta warrior-themed supervillain who wields a fan able to both slice through anything and turn people into gold. Once defeated and de-akumatized, Fei calls him out for killing Shifu and manipulating her, but chooses to abandon her quest for vengeance and takes him to the police as Ladydragon.
