The Indian Railways' Southern Railway line runs through the state of Kerala, connecting most major towns and cities except those in the highland districts of Idukki and Wayanad.[1] The railway network in the state is controlled by two out of six divisions of the Southern Railway: Thiruvananthapuram railway division and Palakkad railway division.[2] Tirur railway station, opened in 1861, is oldest railway station in Kerala and Shoranur Junction (SRR) is the largest railway station in the state.[3]
