The history of shopping malls in Texas began with the oldest shopping center in the United States, Highland Park Village, which opened in 1931 in the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex.[1] The Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex and Greater Houston areas are both home to numerous regional shopping malls and shopping centers located in various areas of the city.
