List of tallest buildings in Ottawa–Gatineau

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Ottawa-Gatineau skyline as seen from Gatineau.

This is a list of the tallest buildings in the Ottawa-Gatineau urban area that are over 90 m (295 ft) tall. Despite its size, Ottawa-Gatineau has never had a particularly notable skyline compared to other Canadian cities of similar population such as Calgary and Edmonton. Until 1965, buildings in Ottawa were limited to 45.5 metres (149 ft) so that the 92 m (302 ft) tall Peace Tower at the centre of the Parliament Buildings could dominate the skyline.[1] The National Capital Region has a complicated system of protected view planes that are governed by the National Capital Commission and adhered to by the City of Ottawa and Ville de Gatineau.[2] Protected view planes limit the height of buildings in certain areas of the downtown cores of Ottawa and Gatineau to ensure clear sight of Parliament Hill.

The tallest building in Ottawa-Gatineau is the 45-storey, 143 m (469 ft) tall Claridge Icon, which is located in Little Italy.

The tallest building in development in Ottawa-Gatineau is the 65-storey, 234 m (768 ft) tall Trinity Station Tower 1, part of the three-tower 'Trinity Centre at Bayview Station' project in Bayview Yards.[3][4][5][6]
