Luis Miguel Tour / The Hits Tour 2010/2013 was a concert tour performed by Luis Miguel to promote his album Luis Miguel. The tour was announced during a press conference from the Augustus Ballroom at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas on September 13, 2010.[1]

History[]

The tour began in Las Vegas with four concerts in celebration of the proclamation of independence of Mexico. Later, the tour continued to South America where he visited Peru, Chile, Argentina, Paraguay and Bolivia[2]

In January 2011, Luis Miguel returned to the United States for six concerts in the following cities: San Diego, Palm Springs, Los Angeles and San Jose.[2]

In February 2011, a season of concerts in Mexico began, with twenty concerts occurring at the National Auditorium. Luis Miguel then performed at cities including Guadalajara, Monterrey, Puebla, Leon, San Luis Potosí, Torreon, Querétaro, Veracruz and Tuxtla. Over in Central America, the tour came to Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador. He returned to Mexico for a total of 41 concerts.[2]

In May he opened another concert stage in the United States and Canada. The North American part of the tour took Luis Miguel to cities such as Miami, Orlando, Toronto, Chicago, Newark, Dallas, Tucson, El Paso, Albuquerque, Laredo, Hidalgo, San Antonio, Houston, Los Angeles, Fresno, Phoenix, and then close in Chula Vista, San Bernardino and Las Vegas.[2] The Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico were also tour locations.

In February 2012 he began the celebration of 30 years of career with a concert in Punta del Este, and then participated in the "Viña del Mar International Song Festival" in Chile. Later, Luis Miguel opened the Mexico City Arena. He also visited Tampico and Monterrey.[2]

In March he returned to Central America, particularly Costa Rica and Panama. Comes back to South America where he visited countries like Venezuela, Ecuador and Brazil (the latter not visited for 13 years).[2]

In April he arrived in Spain for nine concerts, in cities such as Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, Malaga, Alicante, Palma, Caceres, and Santiago de Compostela.[2]

After a several-month break, the tour returned to Fresno and then participated in the "People in Spanish Festival" in San Antonio. He visited various cities in the United States and Mexico such as Ciudad Juarez, Tijuana, Mexicali, Irvine, Highland and Las Vegas.[2]

He flew to South America for concerts in Argentina (Corrientes, Buenos Aires, Cordoba and Rosario) and Chile (Antofagasta, Santiago, Mostazal and Concepcion).[2]

In 2013, he went to Mexico to make 34 presentations across the country. The cities visited were: Mexico City, Pachuca, Aguascalientes, Guadalajara, Leon, Tampico, Monterrey, Tepic, Chihuahua, Hermosillo, Cualiacan, Acapulco, and Puebla.[2]

In August 2013 he participated in the "North Sea Jazz Festival" in Curacao. In September 2013, he held concerts in the United States in the following cities: El Paso, Las Vegas, Temecula, Tucson, Palm Springs, Reno, Bakersfield, Dallas and Austin.[2]

In November, he continued his tour in Dominican Republic, Peru, Venezuela and returned to four cities in Colombia after 9 years (he last visited that country during the 33 Tour in 2004).[2]

Awards and records[]

  • In October 2010, Miguel was recognized by the "Latino Awards 2010" as "Artist of the Century" in New York.[162][163]
  • In March 2011, Luis Miguel received a plaque for his 200 concerts at the National Auditorium in Mexico City (1991–2011).[27][28][164]
  • In October 2011, Miguel was proclaimed as the best Latin artist of the past 25 years, according to Billboard magazine.[165][166][167][168][169]
  • On February 22, 2012, at the "International Song Festival of Viña del Mar" Miguel was awarded 3 "Gulls" (gold, silver, platinum) and the keys to the city.[170][171][172]
  • On September 2, 2012, in the "People in Spanish Festival" Miguel was awarded a "Lifetime Achievement Award" and proclaimed "Mayor for a Day" in the city of San Antonio, Texas.[173]
  • Miguel received, on October 22, 2012, in Argentina at the hands of President Cristina Kirschner, a plaque in recognition of his 100 presentations in that country (1982–2012).[174][175]
  • In October 2012 he was named "distinguished guest" by the city of Antofagasta.[176][177][178]
  • On September 13, 2013, in Las Vegas, Miguel was awarded with "Diamond Award", a certificate from the Nevada Governor's Office for his contributions to the state, a certificate from the United States Senate recognizing him as one of the top Hispanic artists in the world, and "Day of Luis Miguel".[179][180][181][182][183][184]
  • In April 2014 Miguel won a "Billboard Latin Music Award": "Tour of the Year".[185][186][187]
