Mackenzie is a unisex given name. It is derived from the Scottish surname, from the Gaelic "MacCoinnich" (or son of Coinneach, or son of the bright one). In North America and Australia, the name is used for girls more often than boys. Mckenzie is also a spelling variant of the name.^[1]
