Maksim Medvedev (born 29 September 1989) is an Azerbaijani footballer, who currently plays for and captains both Karabakh FK and Azerbaijan national football team. He is of Russian descent.
Medvedev has spent his entire career at Qarabağ since becoming a professional player in 2006 and is the most capped player in the history of the club. He has won the Azerbaijan Premier League 7 times and Azerbaijan Cup 4 times. Medvedev made his debut for the Azerbaijani national team in 2009 at the age of 19 and is the fourth most capped player in the history of the national team. He plays primarily as a right-back defender, but can also be utilized as a left-back or centre-back.

FK Karabakh[]
Born in Baku, Azerbaijan SSR (in present-day - Azerbaijan), Medvedev was a product of the Karabakh FK youth system, by becoming one of the talented players in country.[3]
International career[]
Medvedev made his Azerbaijan under-21 debut in 2008, having previously played for under-17 and under-19 teams.[4]
He became a regular starter for Azerbaijan during World Cup 2010 qualifying games after Karabakh FK's successful Europa League campaign in 2009.[5][6] On 3 June 2016 Medvedev lead Azerbaijani national team against Canada as a team captain. He scored his first international goal on 8 October 2016 against Norway, securing a 1–0 victory for his team. After the retirement of Rashad Sadyghov from the national team, Medvedev was selected as the new captain of the national team in 2018.
