Martorelles is a municipality in the province of Barcelona and autonomous community of Catalonia, Spain. The municipality covers an area of 3.6 square kilometres (1.4 sq mi) and the population in 2014 was 4,783.[2]

It was in Martorelles that motorcycle ace Ricardo Tormo crashed and shattered his leg in 1984 during practice for a race, ending his career. A car had gotten into the unrestricted area in a closed-off industrial estate in which his Derbi team was practising, and he hit the car.[citation needed]
