The Maryland Cycling Classic is an upcoming one-day road cycling race that will take place in the state of Maryland. The category 1.Pro race is a part of the UCI America Tour and the UCI ProSeries calendars.[1]

History[]

The inaugural edition was scheduled for September 6, 2020.[2] However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the race was first postponed to 2021[3] and then again to 2022.[4]

While the route has not yet been determined, it will be substantially in and around Baltimore.[5] It is the only one-day race in the United States part of the UCI ProSeries and with no one-day race in the United States part of the UCI World Tour, it is the highest stature one-day race in the country.[6] Furthermore, with the Tour of California going on hiatus in 2020, the United States has no event part of the UCI World Tour. This makes the Maryland Cycling Classic the highest level road cycling race in the United States (highest level one-day and tied with overall highest level with the Tour of Utah.[7])
