News Patrol is an hourly news bulletin of Kapamilya Channel which was aired from September 5, 2005, to May 5, 2020, replacing ABS-CBN News Advisory at the former ABS-CBN. The news bulletin was suspended on May 5, 2020, after ABS-CBN was forced to cease and desist its free TV broadcasting operations given by the order of the NTC. On May 8, 2020, News Patrol continued broadcast on cable channels TeleRadyo, ANC, Cine Mo!, TFC, online via ABS-CBN News' website, Facebook, YouTube and iWantTFC. It also served as the main newscast for Kapamilya Channel until it was replaced by a TV Patrol simulcast.

Airing history[]

As an hourly news bulletin[]

News Patrol premiered in 2004 as a news bulletin of the morning show Magandang Umaga Bayan. The news bulletin was reformatted into ABS-CBN's news bulletin, replacing ABS-CBN News Advisory on September 5, 2005.

In 2006, it became the first Philippine news program to broadcast the victory of the First Philippine Mount Everest Expedition.

On April 1, 2018, News Patrol switched to high definition format (alongside with other network's main channel news programs).

On April 9, 2020, News Patrol aired its special coverage of the COVID-19 pandemic during the Paschal Triduum of the Holy Week as an evening newscast.

On May 5, 2020, News Patrol aired its last bulletin on ABS-CBN and was suspended after the network was forced to cease and desist its free TV broadcasting operations given by the order of the NTC due to the expiration of the network's legislative franchise to operate the day before.[1]

On May 8, 2020, the news bulletin was migrated to TeleRadyo, ANC, Cine Mo!, The Filipino Channel, and social media platforms such as Facebook, YouTube, and iWantTFC. Some regional newscasts also began to air live on their respective Facebook pages the following day.

As a primetime newscast[]

On June 15, 2020, News Patrol returned via Kapamilya Channel as a temporary 30-minute primetime newscast instead of airing the 2-hour newscast TV Patrol which airs on ANC, TeleRadyo and Cine Mo!.[2] ANC and S+A news presenter Denice Dinsay anchored the primetime newscast. However, the primetime newscast ended shortly on July 24 as TV Patrol will begin its broadcast on Kapamilya Channel.[3] News Patrol was then converted to an hourly news bulletin of the channel on July 27.

A2Z News Alert is a temporary news bulletin program produced by ABS-CBN News for A2Z Channel 11. It serves as News Patrol's de facto spin-off newscast and free-to-air successor, using the latter's studios and graphics. However, compared to its now-cable counterpart, A2Z News Alert only airs during events of national importance (e.g. Typhoons Rolly and Ulysses). In addition, the bulletin is the first news program (and the only news program produced by ABS-CBN News) that airs on A2Z (in comparison, sister pay-TV network Kapamilya Channel airs newscasts TV Patrol and The World Tonight, among others), the second being Balitang A2Z, a news program produced by ZOE Broadcasting Network which similar to News Light sa Umaga on A2Z's sister channel, Light TV (which premiered on July 26, 2021).

On November 15, 2021, a news bulletin Ulat A2Z (also produced by ZOE Broadcasting Network) premiered, replacing A2Z News Alert, which is similar to News Patrol of ABS-CBN, but only airs every 7 pm during the commercial break of the movie block Primetime Zinema. On January 3, 2022, following the broadcast of TV Patrol on A2Z which causes Primetime Zinema to move to afternoons and renamed as "Afternoon Zinema", Ulat A2Z airs every 5:15 pm during the commercial break of the said movie block.
