I Can See Your Voice is a Philippine television mystery music game show series produced and distributed locally by ABS-CBN Entertainment available on Kapamilya Channel and A2Z. It is an adaptation of the South Korean program of the same name.

Gameplay[]

Format[]

A guest artist is presented with a group of six "mystery singers" (as SEE-cret songers) — some of them are good singers, and some are bad. The artist must attempt to eliminate bad singers from the group by guessing who they are without hearing them sing. They get assistance from clues by "celebrity panelists" (dubbed the SING-vestigators) over the course of three rounds. The artist will eliminate one to two singers at the end of each round and then proceed to perform on the "stage of truth". At the end, the winning mystery singer is revealed as good (SEE-nger) or bad (SEE-ntunado) by means of a duet with one of the guest artists.[1][2]

Rewards[]

At the end of each round, the eliminated mystery singer gets a consolation prize starting with ₱5,000 for the first round, ₱10,000 for the second round, and ₱15,000 for the third round. If the last remaining mystery singer is good, the guest artist gets an award (as Eyeward) and he/she will compete at Tawag ng Tanghalan. The winning singer, regardless of being good or bad, receives a cash prize of ₱25,000.

Rounds[]

There are six individuals or groups of mystery singers standing on a platform to keep identities concealed until the "stage of truth" performance.

  • Visual round
  • Stop, Looks, and Listen

The guest artist is given some time to observe and examine each mystery singer based on their appearance. Afterward, a muted video of each mystery singer reveals only 0.3 seconds of their singing voice as an additional hint.[a][b]

  • Two or False

Each mystery singer is given two different identities — as a good singer and as a bad singer. Only one of them is their real identity.[b][c][d]

  • Lip sync round
  • The Voice is Syncing

Each mystery singer performs a lip sync to a song. Good singers mime to a recording of their own performance while bad singers mime to a recording of someone's else.[a][b]

  • Sync Zoned

Each mystery singer performs a lip sync from a non-lyrical piece of a song (i.e. screams, whistles, interjections, etc.).[a]

  • Everybody Sync

The mystery singers are divided into two groups of two or three, and participate in a lip sync performance to one song each.[c][d]

  • Evidence round
  • I Like to Prove It! Prove It!

A proof of each mystery singer's singing ability (i.e. photo, video, certificates, etc.) is shown on the screen. Good singers have own evidences while bad singers have their evidences fabricated.[a]

  • Clues Open

The host has randomly assigned clues about the mystery singer. The guest artist must choose a clue for each mystery singer.[d]

A Whole New Word — The panelist is given a statement with an assigned "keyword" to one of the remaining mystery singers of their choice.
Message Parlor — The guest artist is presented with a video package relating to a "superfan" of one of the remaining mystery singers of their choice.
Song Ka Pa — The host reveals a playlist of three "mystery songs" that are appropriated to one of the remaining mystery singers of their choice.
Tabi-tabi Po — The guest artist asks a question to one of the remaining mystery singers of their choice that can answer with feeling and expression.

Three random panelists are wearing headphones to listen to a recording of assigned mystery singer that lasts for 15 seconds. Afterward, the panelist defends the mystery singer and convince the guest artist to choose them as the winner.[a][b][c]

Production[]

Background and development[]

ABS-CBN first announced the development of the series in a collaboration with Endemol Shine Group in August 2017.[3][4] Produced by ABS-CBN Entertainment, the staff team is managed by executive producer Rose Casala, director Joane Laygo, and creative director Stiffany Adanza.

An at-home digital companion event I Can Guess Your Voice was exclusively in the fourth season that applies to everyone (as Home SING-vestigators) whoever correctly predicts the outcome of the last remaining mystery singer either it was good or bad, through social media platforms.[5][6]

Filming[]

Filmings for the series took place at the ABS-CBN Broadcasting Center at Brgy. South Triangle, Diliman, Quezon City. In March 2020, ABS-CBN announced their halting of production due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[7][8] Later, the second indefinite network shutdown and franchise denial took place, bringing the second season discontinued.[9][10] Since the third season, production resumed under health and safety protocols.[11]

Broadcast[]

History[]

ICSYVPH debuted on September 16, 2017, replacing Lethal Weapon.[12] The second season started airing on August 10, 2019[13] but was prematurely ended on March 14, 2020 because of halting productions.[7][8] The third season premiered on October 24, 2020,[14][15] coinciding the inaugural broadcast of TV5's rival show Masked Singer Pilipinas, a Philippine adaptation of the South Korean reality competition series.[16][17] The fourth season has an initial premiere on January 8, 2022.[5] However, it was delayed and began airing on January 15, 2022, with the airing of 1MX Manila 2021 that occupied its original premiere week.[6]

This program was originally aired on ABS-CBN for two seasons. During the network's shutdown, Kapamilya Channel and A2Z brought over interim broadcasts since the third season. It also simulcasts on Facebook Live and YouTube through Kapamilya Online Live streaming. Outside of the Philippines, it is aired on The Filipino Channel through international transmissions. They are available for streaming on iWantTFC through video on demand.

Special episodes[]

Still as part of the first season, ICSYVPH celebrated its first anniversary starting with a highlight episode (dubbed as Best Mode) on September 9, 2018,[18] following by weekend special episodes on September 15 and 16, 2018 that featured Kalokalike contestants[19][20] and celebrities as mystery singers.[21][22] Other mystery singer batches also include duos[23][24] and groups[25] (from first season); and senior citizens[26][27] and foreigners[28] (from second season).

Cast[]

The series employs a team of "celebrity panelists" who decipher mystery singers' evidences throughout the game. Guest panelists also appear since the first season. Throughout its broadcast, the program has assigned 14 different panelists. The original members consist of Wacky Kiray, Kean Cipriano, Alex Gonzaga, Andrew E., and Angeline Quinto.[1] Besides with original lineup, newcomers also include Bayani Agbayani and  [tl] (from second season);[29] Long Mejia, Negi, Nikko Natividad, and Jona Viray (from third season);[30] and  [tl], Klarisse de Guzman, and  [tl] (from fourth season).[31]
