Peesh ili luzhesh (Bulgarian: Пееш или лъжеш, English: You sing or lying) is a Bulgarian television mystery music game show that premiered on 3 November 2016 on Nova.[1] It is an adaptation of South Korean programme I Can See Your Voice.

Gameplay[]

Format[]

A guest artist is presented with a group of eight "mystery singers" — some of them are good singers, and some are bad. The artist must attempt to eliminate bad singers from the group by guessing who they are without hearing them sing. They get assistance from clues by "celebrity panelists" over the course of four rounds. The artist will eliminate one to two singers at the end of each round and then proceeding to perform on the "stage of truth". At the end, the winning mystery singer is revealed as good or bad by means of a duet with one of the guest artists.[2]

Rewards[]

If the last remaining mystery singer is good, he/she will invite to perform again in the post-season encore concert episode. On the other hand, if the last remaining mystery singer is bad, he/she wins a cash prize of 3.000 leva.

Rounds[]

There are eight individuals of mystery singers standing on a platform to keep identities concealed until the "stage of truth" performance.

  1. Visual round
    The guest artist is given some time to observe and examine each mystery singer based on their appearance. Afterward, a muted video of each mystery singer that reveals only 0.3 seconds of their singing voice is played as an additional hint.
  2. Talent round
    The guest artist must describe one of the mystery singer's other talents, except "singing" itself. It may unrelated to the stage of truth, but it depends on the mystery singer's identity.
  3. Lip sync round
    Each mystery singer performs a lip sync to a song. Good singers mime to a recording of their own performance while bad singers mime to a recording of someone's else.
  4. Interrogation round
    The guest artist must have then 100 seconds to question one of the remaining mystery singers before making the final decision. Good singers tell the truth while bad singers fabricate their own reality to make everyone believe they can sing.

Production[]

Nova Broadcasting Group first announced the development of the series in August 2016. Produced by Global Films, the staff team is managed by producer Magarditch Halvadjian and director Kiril Kirov.[3] Pre-show auditions took place at the National Palace of Culture in Sofia.[4]

New Year's Eve Concert (31 December 2016)[]

The post-season episode was aired on the last day of 2016, featuring all of the winning mystery singers alongside guest artists perform one last time. In the penultimate performance, Rosen Belov made an example of a bad singers turned "good", thus it is the only ICSYV franchise to do so.[17]
